Job Description:

This engineer would be part of the Secure Computing Group (SCG) Applications Engineering team in Chennai India working on microprocessor and security based products going into a wide variety of end applications including tablets, desktops, notebooks, embedded systems, automotive, IoT and disposables. 

Primary focus will be on developing evaluation boards to support the products developed by the SCG business unit.  You will be responsible to assist in defining the boards and implementing the schematics, layout, test procedures, user guides and other collateral necessary to get the boards into production in Microchip’s dev tool system.  

Additionally you will need to provide some technical support to customers on these products as the need arises.  You will work closely with architects, designers, validation engineers as well as customers facing marketing/sales/FAE team.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing schematics and PCB layouts for PCB Boards.
  • Write User Guides, design guides and other app notes to support the product.
  • Implementation of the product inside of Microchips development tools process from concept into full production.
  • Manage external contract manufacturers when needed to increase the bandwidth of the development flow.
  • Supporting customers for deploying SCG division products
  • Assist design customers facing evaluation board (schematic, layout, fabrication)
  • Assist and train FAEs/customers
  • Support sales/marketing efforts including building demos

Candidates must have:

  • BS/MS Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong Schematic and PCB design skills.  (Preferably on Altium or Siemens Expedition)  This includes understanding of high speed design techniques, balancing nets, impedance matching etc.
  • Knowledgeable in C or C++  and Python.
  • Experience in both digital and analog circuitry designs at the board level.
  • Good mix of hardware and software design experience as well as practical lab experience
  • Good project management and organizational skills.
  • Must be a self-starter and project oriented and have the ability to multiplex multiple projects on a sustained basis.   
  • Ideally a knowledge of personal computer hardware and architecture, I/O subsystems, address decoding, programmable peripheral ICs and keyboard controllers
  • Proficiency in developing and debugging embedded microcontroller firmware.
  • Should possess good interpersonal skills as team members on projects
  • Willing and capable of comprehending and applying industry standard specifications such eSPI, QSPI, I2C/SMBus, I3C, USB, MCTP, PECI, Cryptographic Security functions, etc.

Skills Required
