We are looking for an experienced and skilled Design Engineer to lead complex projects focused on Landing Gear systems, Hydraulic Actuators, Hydraulic Manifolds, and related aerospace components. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to take designs from concept to production, ensuring high-quality outcomes while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Position: Principal Engineer (Design) – Landing Gear
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead complex design projects involving Landing Gear systems (NLG, MLG, Retract Actuator, Unlock Actuator, Up-lock systems, Manifold, NWSS, etc.).
- Drive technology projects through Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs).
- Oversee design and development of key systems, ensuring performance and reliability.
- Apply ASME Y14.5 standards for precise designs.
- Drive New Product Development (NPD) — prior Landing Gear experience is a plus.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (stress analysis, materials, manufacturing, supply chain, production, etc.) to ensure seamless delivery.
- Provide engineering solutions for field issues, producibility improvements, and retrofit modifications.
- Lead and support design reviews, DMU analysis, and Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/A) assessments to ensure quality and safety compliance.
- Mentor and develop junior engineers to enhance team skills and performance.
- Continuously improve processes, systems, and product designs to optimize performance.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders (customers, vendors, etc.).
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Mater’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in the aerospace sector; experience with Landing Gear systems is a plus.
- Expertise in machined components design, hydraulic systems, special processes, material selection, stack-up analysis, and GD&T.
- Proven track record leading New Product Introduction (NPI) projects — Landing Gear experience preferred.
- Strong stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership abilities.
- Experience working with OEMs is an advantage.
- Exposure to Value Engineering activities and patent contributions (if any) is a plus.
- Proficient in CATIA V5 and Teamcenter.
Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s or Mater’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 12+ years of experience in the aerospace sector; experience with Landing Gear systems is a plus.
