The Principal engineer for Data Derived Cyber Security Defense Services is a high impact role that ensures that data derived threat capabilities servicing the various information security teams are properly planned, developed, deployed, and sustained within the Wells Fargo Cyber Security Counter Threat Operations Center scope and mandate. This Engineer will lead all of our Threat Analytics or Data Derived Engineering, Automation, and AI Enablement efforts driving us to a fused, integrated, and networked security capability.
In this position you will:
- Manage the engineering, deployment, and operation of the underlying technology ecosystem and the associated product, data, and services.
- Define and drive the Fusion Center's data and AI technology strategy aligned with operational efficiency goals.
- Stay abreast of innovations in AI, data infrastructure, and cloud platforms to maintain the Fusion Center's operational excellence.
- Build and maintain cloud-based data ingestion frameworks, real-time and batch data pipelines, and scalable data warehousing solutions.
- Responsible for managing budgets and ensuring alignment with the total cost of ownership framework, including resource allocation across three time zones, technology investments, and operational expenses.
- Responsible and accountable for hiring, development, and end-of-year performance management of a team of direct reports.
- 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- Proven ability to build and maintain a robust and reliable enterprise data warehouse using cloud technology and diverse source systems.
- Deep technical knowledge and extensive experience with complex data engineering environments and tools.
- Oversee data modeling, ETL processes, orchestration tools, and data lakehouse architecture in a secure, governed environment.
- Lead hands-on development and deployment of Generative AI and LLM-based applications.
- Demonstrate an advanced level of understanding of how the Agile framework can support the creation of value and how to achieve it in the real world.
- Master's degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science, Data Science, or equivalent.
- Collaborate with product managers, enterprise architects, and other stakeholders to define software requirements and create technical designs.
- Ensure that products are secure and adhere to industry best practices.
- Ensure that the products meet customer needs and are delivered to their satisfaction.
- Continuously improve data and software engineering practices and processes.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with cloud technologies, such as AWS or Azure, is a plus.
- Knowledge of machine learning and data mining is a plus.
- Prior experience in managing and effectively influencing large matrixed teams in a hyper-competitive industry with validated experience succeeding with large projects.
- Lead a team of data scientists, program managers, developers, and data engineers to build analytics models using Big Data and other advanced tools and technologies.
- Innovate engineering, developing, and supporting technology infrastructure for intelligence and incident response operations at the Cyber Security Fusion Center (CSFC).
- Implement robust data governance frameworks, ensuring data privacy, lineage, and compliance with standards like NIST.
- Collaborate with all fusion center operations and teams to define secure data access policies, encryption, and risk management practices.
- Ensure AI systems comply with regulatory and data privacy requirements.
- Mentor team members and foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
- Expertise in building and deploying LLMs (e.g., GPT, Claude, LLaMA) and Generative AI solutions in real-world applications.
- Strong organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of project timelines and budgets.
- Excellent Decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate one.
- A team-focused mentality with the proven ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to lead fast-paced delivery in challenging environments.
- Ability to work with senior leaders to foster positive client relationships, identify new opportunities with existing stakeholders, and develop new innovative approaches.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
