This Position reports to:
IS Service Owner for App and Dev CoE
Your role and responsibilities
In this role, you will have the opportunity to initiate and drive technology, software, product, and/or solution development using in-depth technical expertise in a specific area. Each day, you will act as the first point of contact in Research and Development (R&D) for in-depth product or technology-related issues. You will also showcase your expertise by supporting strategic corporate technology management and future product/software/solution architecture.

Main stakeholders are Infrastructure Leads and Business Development Leads.
You will be mainly accountable for:
- Developing the product.
- Investing efforts into expanding competence portfolio beyond the area of specialization, assimilating developments in complementary technologies, tools, and methodologies, and integrating learnings into daily activities.
- Managing major technology/engineering projects/product platforms of substantial impact to your organization.
- Anticipating and proactively proposing actions to mitigate possible quality problems in R&D projects.
- Monitoring and working to secure and develop Intellectual Property (IP) within and beyond your area of expertise/projects, based on a good understanding of IP strategies and competitors’ patents in relevant ABB domains.
Qualifications for the role
You are highly skilled in cloud-native software engineering, specializing in infrastructure automation, GitOps delivery models, and internal platform tooling that accelerates developer experience. You enjoy working with enterprise cloud platforms and the technologies that power modern platform engineering.
You have 3+ years of experience building automation or backend systems using technologies such as TypeScript/Node.js, React, Python, C#, or similar languages—ideally delivering platform components, APIs, or self-service workflows for engineering organizations.
You possess advanced skills in Backstage development—including plugin creation, catalog entities, scaffolder templates, and integrations with CI/CD or cloud resources. Experience with IDP frameworks or portal engineering is strongly preferred.
You are highly adept in Terraform, Terragrunt, Azure resource provisioning, and modern cloud patterns. Familiarity with Kubernetes/AKS orchestration, GitOps tools such as ArgoCD, and event-driven CI/CD pipelines is a significant advantage.

You are passionate about automation, reliability, and developer productivity. You thrive in simplifying complex cloud operations into intuitive self-service workflows, and you bring curiosity and rigor to design scalable internal platforms.
You hold a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or demonstrate an equivalent track record of delivering production-grade automation, backend development, or platform engineering solutions.
