This role offers a hybrid model of 3 days in our Berlin office a week.

The Opportunity:

As the Principal Engineer Cloud Architecture, you’ll work on challenging technical problems of an ambitious product. Our customers can choose to consume our APIs on GCP or AWS, and we offer multiple regions for each. Our product teams should be able to deploy and operate their services efficiently across them all. You help offer them the infrastructure they need to be successful.

Your Mission:
  • Enable (new) teams to deploy their services across multiple clouds and multiple regions
  • Ensure our infrastructure teams offer tooling and guidance to get new services started quickly
  • Identify gaps in the cloud infrastructure we offer to our internal teams, and identify and implement suitable solutions together with the infrastructure teams
  • Have an overview of cloud spending, help teams keep track, and identify opportunities to use cloud resources more efficiently
  • Identify learning needs/skills gaps, and facilitate related technology knowledge sharing across the organization with the help of our internal knowledge management team
  • You will kickstart improvements affecting multiple teams to improve our Cloud Architecture, as well as bringing your colleagues’ ideas to live
  • Lead communication within the organization on long running initiatives, and make sure they get adopted successfully
  • Closely collaborate with Head Of Product Infrastructure, the Principal Engineers for Service Architecture, Frontend Architecture and Product Security as well as the Staff Engineers in the Infrastructure group
  • You contribute to the evolution our tech vision and promote it within the organization
What you need to succeed:
  • A strong technical background and a proven track record in SRE or DevOps roles (5+ years)
  • Experience improving a Cloud Architecture in a leadership role (2+ years)
  • Experience with Kubernetes, and GCP or AWS (or both)
  • Ability to analyze tech issues and related organizational issues
  • Project management experience, especially for projects affecting multiple teams
  • Experience working within an Agile environment with a strong customer focus
  • Setting up trainings / onboardings and running them
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Fluent English to work in an international environment
  • Great self-assessment mastery
  • You are eager to share your knowledge and to constantly improve yourself and learn about leadership, new technologies and concepts
