Principal Engineer and Product Owner for Database Security Platform and Infrastructure Engineering
Wells Fargo is hiring a Senior Data Center Operations Engineer to support data center hardware and infrastructure. This role emphasizes Layer 1 work, with a strong focus on cable patching expertise.
In this role, you will:
- Responsible for engineering data center requirements to fulfill project requests
- Responsible for following industry standards and best practices to ensure data center availability
- Work in partnership with SMEs and Core Engineering Partners to ensure the best utilization of data center resources
- Have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of IPv4 & IPv6 subnetting and VLAN technologies to perform FQDN generation and assignments
- Responsible expert regarding space usage, device placement & power consumption / cooling impact
- Assist with generation and implementation of projects as assigned
- Gather requirements
- Manage capacity of power, space, cooling, and connectivity in deployable spaces ahead of demand
- Assign CNet, network circuits and ports
- Design layout solutions
- Schedule with requestor and implementation team
- Evaluating existing environments for component upgrade, chassis upgrade, or decommission | need to have experience working with server, storage, network and mainframe hardware environment
- 4+ years of Technology Infrastructure Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3+ years of experience working in managed services
- Experience supporting technology at an enterprise-level. Ability to interact effectively at varying levels of the business and technical organizations; including management
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with server, storage, mainframe and network hardware
- Proficiency with Layer 1 Infrastructure Design
- Extensive knowledge of data center operations (space, power, cooling and network)
- Precise attention to detail and strong organization skills
- Focus on strong risk management in critical environments
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays as needed or scheduled
- Flexibility to work in a 24/7 environment
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
