Job Description SummaryThe Principal Engineer – Analytics at the Middle East Technology Centre will partner with regional GENx operators to advance predictive maintenance solutions and be the focal point for assigned customers. This role involves maintaining fleet knowledge and helping to solve technical and program issues related to a specific discipline. The individual will work across functions to advance analytic strategy and lead teams and other analytic communities in the development and execution of state-of-the-art predictive analytical models and AI solutions. They will advocate for the integration of on-wing technologies with analytics, creating opportunities with customers, and connect learnings from field/shop data and/or customer operations to the business and engineering teams. The role also involves driving Lean disciplines/activities across the business and mentoring others in analytic disciplines.
Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop, propose, and execute predictive maintenance solutions that comprehensively impact customers and the services business. Connect and integrate Analytics into business processes and align with the Services Technology strategy. Advocate for customers in the development and application of new Analytics methods for new levels of accuracy, speed, and scale.
  • Leverage advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to create innovative solutions that enhance predictive maintenance and operational efficiency. Drive the adoption of AI technologies to solve complex technical challenges and improve decision-making processes.
  • Engage with customers to understand their needs and challenges, and collaborate with them to co-create innovative solutions. Foster strong relationships with customers to ensure their feedback is integrated into the development of new analytics and AI-driven methods.
  • Maintain broad awareness of efforts within the analytics community to assure technical quality excellence, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer/program needs.
  • Facilitate communication of technical and business information between organizations, customers, and within the workgroup.
  • Possess knowledge of best practices and how their area integrates with others; be aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
  • Use judgment and have the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters to address more complex processes with technical variety and/or interdependent production cycles.
  • Utilize technical experience and analytical thinking. Use multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own teams to arrive at decisions.
  • Lead projects/programs and act as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
  • Develop specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serve as a best practice/quality resource. Be aware of the latest technical developments in their area. Contribute towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within the area of responsibility.
  • Explain information and bring team members to consensus around topics within the field. 
  • Actively engage in Design Board and Tech Community activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university. 
  • Demonstrated technical capability including experience in developing predictive analytics, applied data science, AI, machine learning.
  • Customer Focus, mindset, business dynamics and cultural awareness. 

Desired Characteristics

  • Airline maintenance or field service engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Technical problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
  • Design experience, preferably HPT/CDN related.
  • Experience developing or applying digital solutions.
  • Proficiency with programming languages/processes: Python, R, Dataiku, Alation, Spotfire.
  • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Excellent decision-making and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
