Job Description

Our rail team in Queensland is continuing to grow, supporting a strong pipeline of work with Queensland Rail and across broader infrastructure programs.

Our current and upcoming projects are heavily focused on infrastructure electrical delivery, including Zero Emissions Bus (ZEB) infrastructure, HV electrical systems, and lighting design giving you the opportunity to work across both rail and adjacent transport electrification projects shaping the future of Queensland’s network.

This role has been created to support that demand and deliver practical, high-impact electrical solutions across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure projects.

How you’ll make a difference:

  • Deliver high‑quality technical design across infrastructure electrical works — HV systems, substations, and distribution networks — with a strong focus on constructability and safe operation.

  • Shape the rollout of Zero Emissions Bus (ZEB) infrastructure by contributing to concept, detailed design, and integration that support sustainable transport outcomes.

  • Lead and support HV electrical works, managing design, system integration, and interfaces with existing networks to ensure reliable cutovers and operations.

  • Develop lighting and HV design solutions across rail and adjacent transport infrastructure projects, optimizing performance, safety, and lifecycle cost.

  • Provide subject matter expertise aligned to Queensland Rail standards and broader infrastructure requirements, ensuring designs meet assurance and compliance needs.

  • Resolve technical interface challenges across multidisciplinary teams (civil, systems, structures, stations) to deliver integrated outcomes.

  • Support assurance activities — design reviews, verification, and compliance documentation — driving right‑first‑time delivery.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick every box, we’d still encourage you to apply.

The qualities that help you thrive:

  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).

  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) — mandatory.

  • Eligibility for Engineers Australia membership; Chartered (CPEng) highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated experience in infrastructure electrical works, including HV systems, lighting design, and transport-related electrical infrastructure, experience on ZEB projects highly regarded.

  • Strong understanding of designer obligations under the Rail Safety National Law, with hands‑on experience delivering to Queensland Rail standards and assurance frameworks.

  • Proven success working within multidisciplinary rail or infrastructure environments across Queensland, collaborating effectively to meet time, cost, and quality targets.

Additional Information

Why you’ll love working with us

  • Flexible work arrangements, including alternative start/finish times, part-time, job-sharing and hybrid work options
  • Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year
  • Volunteer and representation leave
  • Flex public holidays – swap Easter or other holidays for ones that suit you better
