Principal DevOps Engineer

We are now looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to join our team.

You will be responsible for;

End-to-End Application/Service Ownership

• Own applications and services fully end-to-end.

• Take full technical ownership of cloud-native and lift&shift services running on OpenShift and Azure.

• Ensure built-in quality, security, and reliability through hands-on improvements to deployment pipelines, infrastructure, and service operations.

• Drive continuous enhancements in stability, automation, and performance across the full lifecycle.

Application Design & Architecture

• Contribute to application design and architecture.

• Influence design decisions by bringing operational, cloud, and platform experience from OpenShift, GitOps, and Azure environments.

• Partner with engineering teams to improve deployment patterns, release workflows, and cloud-native architectural choices.

Hands-On Automation, GitOps & CI/CD

• Implement and improve GitOps workflows using ArgoCD, ensuring consistent declarative deployments.

• Enhance CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, Git-based automation) with embedded security, quality, and performance.

• Develop automation using Python, Bash, or similar to reduce toil and increase delivery speed.

• Provision and manage cloud resources as code using Terraform and Terragrunt, integrated with GitOps/CI/CD pipelines.

• Enforce GitOps best practices and ensure infrastructure/application configurations remain source-controlled and reproducible.

Observability & Monitoring

• Build and maintain dashboards, alerts, and logs using Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, and Azure Monitor.

• Improve visibility into system behavior and ensure actionable alerting instead of noise.

• Troubleshoot live issues directly in OpenShift, Azure, and application layers.

Operational Reliability, Incident & Problem Management

• Perform hands-on deep-dive investigations into incidents across OpenShift clusters, CI/CD pipelines, Azure components, and application stacks.

• Lead or contribute to root-cause analysis, implementing preventive fixes and improving long-term resilience.

• Strengthen Release, Change, and Incident Management processes via data-driven improvements.

Cloud Platform Optimization & FinOps Contribution

• Optimize Azure resource usage through scaling, right-sizing, and deployment tuning.

• Support FinOps efforts by identifying inefficiencies in infrastructure, CI/CD runtimes, and cluster operations.

Collaboration & DevOps Culture

• Work closely with R&D, SRE, operations, and CCB stakeholders to drive transparent and reliable engineering practices.

• Promote DevOps practices, ensuring consistent adoption of GitOps, CI/CD, automation, and observability across teams.

• Contribute to shared DevOps KPIs and Amadeus-wide engineering maturity.

Key Expectation at This Level

• Remain deeply hands-on across OpenShift, ArgoCD, GitOps, CI/CD, and Azure.

• Lead through technical contribution, troubleshooting expertise, and practical delivery of improvements.

• Demonstrate seniority by raising the engineering bar while directly building, fixing, optimizing, and automating.
