PRINCIPAL DEVOPS DESCRIPTION

The Principal Devops Engineer designs, builds, and delivers private cloud and Kubernetes platforms in enterprise and regulated environments. The role is primarily delivery-focused, with responsibility for implementing and validating platform architectures, integrating infrastructure and container platforms, and supporting solution design across pre-sales and delivery phases.

The Principal Devops Engineer works across OpenStack-based private cloud and enterprise Kubernetes platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift and SUSE Rancher, collaborating with architects, infrastructure teams, and technology partners to deliver scalable, secure, and automated platform solutions.

We work on projects across multiple areas with varied clients, so the position of a Principal developer is critical in terms of the relevance of existing projects as well as ensuring the seamless growth of future ones, with this having special importance not only within the scope of the project, but also within the Amdaris structure.

PRINCIPAL DEVOPS RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Design, deploy, and operate Kubernetes platforms using Red Hat OpenShift and/or SUSE Rancher in on-premises and private cloud environments.
• Ability to provide guidance and expertise on system options, risk, impact and costs vs. benefits.
• Build, install and configure solutions. Implement reusable components, translate technical requirements, assist with all stages of test data, develop interface stubs and simulators and perform script maintenance and updates.
• Troubleshoot problems, involving the appropriate resources and driving resolution of issues with a focus on minimizing impact to customers.
• Design and implement automation for platform provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Git-based workflows.
• Implement integrations requested by customers.
• Deploy updates and fixes.
• Provide Level 2 technical support.
• Build tools to reduce occurrences of errors and improve customer experience.
• Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems.
• Perform root cause analysis for production errors.
• Investigate and resolve technical issues.
• Develop scripts to automate visualization.
• Design procedures for system troubleshooting and maintenance.

PRINCIPAL DEVOPS REQUIREMENTS

•  Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes in production environments.
•  Proven experience with enterprise Kubernetes platforms such as Red Hat OpenShift and/or SUSE Rancher.
• Proven experience designing, deploying, or operating OpenStack-based private cloud environments, including computer, networking, storage, and identity components.
• Good knowledge of Terraform, Ansible, and Helm.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of databases.
• An understanding and some experience of network administration, DNS, firewall maintenance and security.
• Significant systems administration experience in a Unix/ Linux environment
• Good understanding of software quality assurance.
• An understanding of continuous integration/delivery principles and working knowledge of automated software delivery workflows.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including report writing and technical documentation.
• Problem-solving attitude.
