The Role

AltIQ is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to help transform alternative investment data into relevant insights and intelligence. This role will focus on analyzing structured and unstructured investment data, developing quantitative models, identifying relevant patterns, and creating analytical frameworks that help investors better understand funds, managers, and investment opportunities. You will work across a wide range of datasets, including private placement memoranda (PPMs), prospectuses, performance reports, manager disclosures, and other investment-related materials.

Interacting directly with Data Engineering, Applied AI, Product, and Business teams, you will help create proprietary insights and analytics that power key capabilities across the AltIQ platform. These capabilities may include benchmarking, fund comparisons, manager scoring, market intelligence, performance analysis, risk analysis and investment research tools.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving complex analytical problems, working with messy real-world data, and turning information into actionable intelligence.

The Expertise You Have

  • Analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured investment data to identify trends, patterns, and actionable insights.
  • Develop analytical models, scoring methodologies, and benchmarking frameworks for alternative investments.
  • Create quantitative analyses to support fund comparisons, manager evaluation, and investment research.
  • Design and maintain data models and metrics that support reporting and product capabilities.
  • Partner with Data Engineers to ensure data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
  • Build statistical and predictive models to support business and product objectives.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations that communicate insights effectively to users and partners.
  • Conduct exploratory analysis to uncover opportunities for new products, features, and investment intelligence.
  • Collaborate with Product and Business teams to translate user needs into analytical solutions.
  • Present findings and recommendations to partners in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to analytical guidelines.
  • Bachelors or equivalent with 12+ years of experience or Masters with 10+ years of experience in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
