Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the collection and evaluation of data records of yield and other agronomic and physiological data in the field related to the agronomy, IPM, and breeding experiments at Pangkep

  • Conduct statistical analysis

  • Collaborate in the experimental design, planning, and implementation of new research projects

  • Keep databases up-to-date and ensure secure data storage

  • Network with the global data analytics experts and the community of practice

  • Provide technical support for installation and maintenance of sensors, data loggers and other scientific equipment

  • Train fellow field technicians and contractors on how to use the data collection equipment

  • Participate in Associate Engagement activities and technical meetings as appropriate

  • Contribute to a safe work environment

Context & Scope

The Principal Technician Data Management is an individual contributor and he/she reports to the Cocoa Research Manager Pangkep. The Principal Technician focuses on the research programs at Pangkep and occasionally at Tarengge as needed. Activities are mainly providing scientific data management support for research projects, which will require close collaboration with field technicians and functional leaders in agronomy, breeding and integrated pest management. He/she provides support to electronic database systems and statistical analysis, works closely with site IT to ensure a robust and stable database.

Education, Professional Qualification, Knowledge and Experiences

  • Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science or related field

  • Preferred Qualifications: Education in statistics and data analytics

Knowledge/Experience

  • Practical knowledge of and 2+ years of experience with scientific data collection, database management and statistical analysis.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills. Essential English language skills. Proficient level is preferred.

  • Proficient computer skills in essential applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Skype.

  • Some experience with programming

  • Experience in adapting new technology and scaling up digital equipment
