The Role:
The Principal Data Governance (DG) Engineer is passionate about data governance, privacy, and compliance and responsible for enabling a DailyPay's data governance program, including improving existing processes for managing the control and protection of sensitive data and information assets. The Principal DG Engineer will focus on ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework including data policies, standards and practices, and compliance with regulatory and contractual security and privacy requirements for critical company data throughout the information lifecycle, coordinates with data stewards to help develop new data-centric systems and services, and maximize the value of data while minimizing risks.
DailyPay is looking for a skilled Principal DG Engineer with hands-on experience and a solid understanding of building and maintaining an enterprise data architecture designed to enhance observability, alerting, reporting, and the development of machine learning (ML) applications and to lead the roadmap for implementation of Data Governance within DailyPay. This role will be instrumental in helping to realize this vision for DailyPay by creating data oversight standards, PII discovery approaches, data quality frameworks, data dictionary and data lineage documentation.

How You Will Make an Impact:

  • The Principal Data Governance (DG) Engineer is passionate about data governance, privacy, and compliance and for enabling data governance programs, including improving existing processes for managing the control and protection of sensitive data and information assets
  • The candidate must have strong technical skills for creating complex programs, deep knowledge of data modeling, transformation, storage, ETL/ELT pipeline orchestration, data warehousing, data quality, cloud platforms, version control, and a desire to communicate, collaborate, share, and continuously improve themselves and the team
  • Focuses on ensuring adherence to an enterprise data governance framework including data policies, standards and practices, and compliance with regulatory and contractual security and privacy requirements for critical company data throughout the information lifecycle
  • Help establish scalable enterprise data governance capabilities including people, processes, and technologies, including building standards, creating data definitions and policies, and training other stakeholders
  • Manage the enterprise data governance program, including the business processes within, data profiling, enforcing specific data quality rules, and cataloging data items to ensure proper data lineage is established and maintained
  • Oversee the implementation and management of data governance platform technologies, serving as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for the data governance platform
  • Understand the enterprise business processes and existing system landscape necessary to enable observability and applied data applications across the enterprise


What You Bring to The Team:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Science, Information Management, or a related discipline
  • 10+ years of Data Governance experience within the financial industry (payments, credit cards, banking, etc.)
  • Minimum 3+ years of direct experience in data analysis, data governance, data management or data modeling, focused on large-scale project management and oversight, at a mid-sized organization
  • In-depth knowledge of industry-standard frameworks and practices for data governance and data quality, including source system profiling tools and methods, writing data quality rules (business facing and
  • Knowledge of data architecture, data risk, and technology solutions for data management
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance practices, business and technology issues related to management of enterprise information assets and approaches related to data protection
  • Knowledge of data-related regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues, including practical experience with privacy laws such as GLBA,CCPA, GDPR and privacy compliance implementation

Pay Transparency. DailyPay takes a market-based approach to compensation, which may vary depending on your location. Additionally, this role may be eligible for variable incentive compensation in addition to stock options. Where a candidate fits within the compensation range for a role is based on their demonstrated experience, qualifications, skills and internal equity.
