Position Description:
Designs, implements, and maintains the organization's database systems. Develops technical solutions to prevent cyber fraud using a wide range of technical and data management tools and technologies -- Snowflake, Oracle, Exadata, PostgreSQL, Goldengate, Veridata and HVR. Writes and optimizes SQL queries and stored procedures using SQL, PL/SQL and shell scripts languages for development of database. Works with Database Administrators and operations teams to support data need.
Primary Responsibilities:

Ensures the scalability, reliability, performance, and security of the databases by performing database tuning and optimization.

Troubleshoots and resolves issues with databases and related systems by continuously monitoring and optimizing database performance.

Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity and access.

Assists with database applications and data sources dependency maps and reverse engineers of data flows.

Maintains the performance, availability, and security of the databases.

Builds automated processes that streamline and eliminate manually intensive data processes to provide higher operational excellence and efficiencies.

Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.

Develops and oversees software system tests and validation procedures, programs, and documentation.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle middleware and database administration in a financial services environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) performing Oracle middleware and database administration in a financial services environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) implementing, installing, and maintaining Oracle replication technologies -- Oracle GoldenGate (Active/Active and Active/Passive), Oracle Data Guard, and HVR.

DE supporting database architecture, including designing physical and logical data models and performing capacity planning, indexing, partitioning, archiving, and compression; and designing and implementing High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) strategies.

DE designing and implementing highly resilient and performant Oracle databases with mega size (500+TB) databases on X9 Oracle Exadata appliances.

DE designing, implementing, and maintaining Snowflake database platform with large number (50+) of databases and petabytes of data.
