About the role:
The Data Engineering Senior Engineer collaborates with a multidisciplinary Agile team to build high-quality data pipelines that drive analytic solutions. This role focuses on generating insights from connected data, enabling advanced data-driven decision-making capabilities.
How you will contribute:
* Design, develop, optimize, and maintain data architecture and pipelines that adhere to ETL principles and business goals
* Define data requirements, gather and mine large-scale structured and unstructured data, and validate data using various tools in the Big Data Environment
* Support Data Scientists in data sourcing and preparation to visualize data and synthesize insights of commercial value
* Lead the evaluation, implementation, and deployment of emerging tools and processes for analytic data engineering to improve productivity
* Develop and deliver communication and education plans on analytic data engineering capabilities, standards, and processes
* Partner with business analysts and solutions architects to develop technical architectures for strategic enterprise projects and initiatives
* Mentor and coach junior staff on data standards and practices
Skills and qualifications:
* Expert in designing scalable and reliable data architectures, capable of managing complex data integration projects.
* Proficient in SQL and database management, with the ability to optimize and maintain complex databases.
* Skilled in DevOps practices and continuous integration to enhance development workflows and data operations.
* Experienced in software development methodologies, promoting efficient lifecycle management and quality assurance.
* Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, essential for optimizing data operations.
* Knowledgeable in distributed data technologies like Spark and Hadoop, crucial for handling large-scale data processing.
* Capable of integrating various systems and technologies to build cohesive and functional data environments.
* Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Scala, Java, and C++, used extensively in data engineering tasks.
* Experienced with SQL for complex database tasks, query optimization, and mentoring others in best practices.
* Skilled in cloud platform deployment and tools like Kubernetes, essential for modern data infrastructure setups.
As an expert professional within the organization, you develop innovative solutions to complex problems aligned with organizational objectives. Your work involves addressing intricate issues, requiring in-depth analysis and judgment. You also engage with key contacts outside your expertise area and contribute to the development of new concepts and standards. Operating with considerable autonomy, you serve as a consultant to management and an external spokesperson on major matters, often working independently and leading function teams or projects. Additionally, you play a role in training and mentoring junior staff.
