Position Overview
We are looking for a Principal Engineer who will play an integral role in the technical guidance in planning and development of critical sales tools and business workflow leveraging data for decision making.
As we collaborate across departments, you’ll partner closely with Product Managers in the Data Product & Insight domain to identify high impact use cases, design innovative data products, and deliver actionable insights. Your role will be crucial in defining and optimizing Autodesk’s approach for Sales. Responsible for defining, designing, and implementing AWS technologies and services to enable the analysis of data to support strategic initiatives and ongoing business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Participate in product discovery along with Product Mangers, Analysts, Users and Architects.
- End to end ownership of ETL data pipelines, from ingestion of data to consumption by business intelligence and advanced analytics teams.
- Identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency, increasing business revenue.
- Lead design, build, test, and release data science models to generate insights from enterprise system data.
- Work closely with different stakeholders: Business owners, users, product managers, program managers, architects, engineering managers & developers, etc. to translate business needs and product requirements to well-documented engineering solutions.
- Ensuring data quality and consistency: Ensure data quality and consistency across various sources.
- Strong working knowledge on Python.
- Designing and contributing to best practices: Design and contribute to best practices in Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) architecture.
- As the lead developer, boldly lead to design, implement, test, and deliver any data engineering products/components/services in a strategic way. As go-to person for technical solutions across multiple teams and projects, helping to overcome challenges predict risks, and figure out mitigation plan. E.g., drive systematic solutions for both shorter and long term, built a roadmap for technical solutions, contributing to initiatives to improve data engineering practices, disciplines, and excellences.
- Discover, define, and guide implementation of long-term technical strategy for data engineering tools, practices, and processes that benefit the team's growth, as well as delivery of high-quality data products.
- Be a role model for mentoring & coaching other engineers, applying best practice into team/product and promote our best practice/achievement to external teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS or higher in computer science or related technical discipline.
- 10+ years of hands-on software and data engineering development experiences in enterprise applications and systems.
- Deep expertise in Python, Snowflake, SQL, DBT. PySpark will be a very good to have skill. Real hands-on project experience with these skills is a must.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills and make sound architectural decisions.
- Broader knowledge in software architecture concepts
- Deep knowledge and experience with data architecture and data platform designs
- Deep knowledge and experience in data modeling, entity relationship and query analysis optimization.
- Expert in using AWS and Data products. Also, expert in Snowflake, Airflow, DBT. Real hands-on project experience with these skills is a must.
- Experiences designing and building data science and ML models for generating business insights from enterprise system data.
- Demonstration of strong sense of ownership and competence in driving broad consensus and alignment across teams and GEOs.
- Ability to design and implement complex enterprise system solutions independently, demonstrate ideas by POC rapidly.
- Fast learner and excellent team player, experienced in work with different disciplines, domains problems and teams.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both verbally and written.
- Rich experience in mentoring and coaching other developers is a must.
- Deep knowledge and experience of working in Agile process is needed.
- Embrace changes and can work under pressure.
- Willing to take challenges and stretch comfortable zone with growth mindset.
