The Principal Data Analyst serves as a senior analytical contributor responsible for designing, implementing, and managing complex data analysis initiatives that support revenue cycle performance and organizational financial objectives. This position operates in a highly complex environment that requires balancing multiple concurrent requests from a wide range of stakeholders while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and timely delivery of analytical outputs.

Essential Functions of this role:

- The Principal Data Analyst designs, implements, and manages complex data analysis projects that support revenue cycle performance, financial outcomes, and organizational priorities.
- The position integrates, prepares, and validates large data sets from multiple internal and external sources to ensure accuracy, consistency, and analytical readiness.
- The role develops advanced SQL queries, data models, and analytical processes to identify trends, metric drivers, operational bottlenecks, and financial opportunities across the revenue cycle.
- The Principal Data Analyst creates dashboards, visualizations, and reporting solutions using Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools to enhance visibility into revenue cycle performance.
- The position conducts in‑depth analysis of key revenue cycle domains including patient access, charge capture, coding, billing, denials, and accounts receivable to support operational and financial decision making.
- The role translates complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights and prepares executive‑level presentations for Finance leadership, Revenue Cycle leadership, and other senior stakeholders.
- The Principal Data Analyst balances multiple concurrent requests from diverse stakeholders, prioritizes work effectively, and ensures timely delivery of high‑quality analytical outputs in a fast‑paced environment.
- The position partners closely with Finance teams to support budgeting, forecasting, payer performance analysis, and rate‑setting activities.
- The role collaborates with Revenue Cycle operational stakeholders to identify root causes of performance issues, evaluate process effectiveness, and recommend data‑driven improvements.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree Business, Data Analytics, Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Healthcare Administration, Other Or equivalent educ/experience
- 7 years A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics roles involving large and complex data sets.
- 4 years Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, including advanced query development, data modeling, and performance optimization within large relational databases.
- 5 years Strong skills in MS Office (eg Excel)
- 2 years Experience working with Epic systems, including Epic Clarity, and the ability to extract, interpret, and analyze data from Epic revenue cycle modules
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5 years Experience translating analytical findings into actionable insights and presenting results to senior leadership, including Finance and Revenue Cycle executives.
- 5 years Experience managing multiple concurrent analytical requests, prioritizing work effectively, and delivering high‑quality outputs in a fast‑paced environment.
- 5 years Experience identifying metric drivers, conducting root‑cause analysis, and developing recommendations to improve operational or financial performance.
- 3 years Experience working with cross‑functional teams, external vendors, and consultants on data requirements, analytical approaches, and solution development.
