About the role:
The Principal Data Analyst - Provider & Market Performance will develop and maintain provider-level and market-level performance analytics that support performance improvement across Optum Health. This role is responsible for translating complex provider and market data into actionable insights that support provider accountability, contract performance, quality improvement, and operational decision-making.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain provider performance scorecards and performance monitoring frameworks
- Build provider-level reporting that evaluates quality, risk, utilization, and performance outcomes
- Develop market performance scorecards and performance insights across business segments and regions
- Support provider accountability initiatives through actionable performance analytics
- Develop and maintain provider incentive and performance reporting
- Support risk-based contract performance measurement and performance review processes
- Identify performance variation, trends, outliers, and improvement opportunities
- Analyze provider, market, and operational performance data to generate actionable recommendations
- Produce executive-ready reporting and presentations for leadership stakeholders
- Support quarterly business reviews and performance management activities
- Develop performance frameworks and analytics supporting population health and value-based care initiatives
- Partner with network, clinical, and operational teams to support business performance objectives
- Support market performance improvement efforts through robust reporting and analytics
- Work with BI teams to develop scalable provider and market reporting solutions

Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven experience developing scorecards, dashboards, and performance reporting solutions
- Demonstrated solid data analysis and data interpretation capabilities
- Proven experience translating complex datasets into actionable business insights
- Proven experience working with large and complex datasets
- Demonstrated solid stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Proven experience presenting findings to business and operational leaders
- Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytics tools
- Proven ability to influence business decisions through data-driven recommendations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience in healthcare analytics
- Proven experience supporting provider performance, network performance, population health, or value-based care initiatives
- Proven experience supporting provider organizations, healthcare operations, or performance management functions
- Demonstrated knowledge of quality measures, utilization metrics, contract performance measurement, and provider accountability frameworks
- Proven experience working with clinical and operational stakeholders
- Proven experience working with encounter, claims, provider attribution, or value-based care datasets
