​Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is seeking a Principal Cybersecurity Engineer to join the Cyber Systems Engineering team supporting the development of mission-critical defense systems.

Position Overview:  

The Principal Cyber Systems Engineer will provide support for the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) program.  The selected candidate will work with the cybersecurity team to continuously ensure systems are compliant with program security requirements. 

What You’ll Get to Do:

• Perform security assessments on containerized applications; drive remediation efforts.

• Collaborate with software, systems, and security engineers to define secure architectures and deployment patterns.

• Ensure cyber survivability attributes are implemented in system designs 

• Support the security architecture and influence the security tools selection and development.  

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM field with 5 years of cyber systems experience – OR – master’s degree in a STEM field with 3 years of cyber systems experience.

• Active Secret security clearance to Start.

• Requires an Active DoD 8140/8570 certification (e.g., Security+ CE).

• Experience managing and manipulating containers (e.g. Podman, Docker, Kubernetes) 

• Provide technical analyses of cyber infrastructure challenges and problems; develop/identify technical solutions responsive to customer needs 

• Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and security of the system including installation, upgrading, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration  

• Collaborate with SW development and cyber teams on implementing and documenting plans for system deployment(s) 

• Solve complex problems across disciplines in an Agile, DevSecOps environment 

• Experience working in a Linux environment (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) including basic command-line usage, file system navigation, and process management 

• Exposure to basic shell scripting (e.g., Bash) for automation of routine tasks  

• Familiarity with Linux user and permission management (users, groups, file permissions) 

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience enforcing container security standards and remediate vulnerabilities in container images. 

• Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems, including user management, security patching, and troubleshooting 

• Experience working with systems engineering, software, integration/test, configuration management, and program stakeholders to support cybersecurity execution across the system lifecycle.  

• Proven experience working within IT Systems Design, Deployment and Administration 

Primary Level Salary Range: $119,600.00 - $179,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
