Job Description

General Responsibility:

BEUMER Corporation is seeking an experienced, hands on Principal Controls Engineer with deep expertise in high throughput material handling automation, complex machine control, or large scale industrial systems.

BEUMER solutions support the distribution and fulfillment operations of some of the largest and most recognizable global brands—from world leading e commerce marketplaces to top tier parcel carriers and major retail distribution networks. Our systems move millions of items every single day, and the controls platforms you work on will be at the center of that performance.

This position is made for engineers who enjoy solving complex automation challenges, working closely with real machinery, and developing robust, scalable control logic—not managing people.

You will directly contribute to BEUMER’s core control technologies used across high-speed sorters, advanced packaging & palletizing systems, and airport baggage handling equipment.

Responsibilities

Core Technical Responsibilities

  • Develop, refine, and maintain PLC‑based control systems for sophisticated material‑handling equipment and high‑speed sortation platforms.
  • Translate customer requirements and system specifications into clear, reliable, and efficient control logic.
  • Review electrical schematics, network architecture, and functional documentation as part of system development.
  • Support technology deployment in live projects, including testing, troubleshooting, and system optimization.

Integration & Collaboration

  • Work with electrical engineering teams on I/O structures, network topologies, and hardware selection.
  • Coordinate with PC software engineers to ensure smooth communication layers and system interaction.
  • Participate in in‑house testing (FAT), on‑site commissioning, and project support when needed.

Global Technical Alignment

  • Stay current with advancements in machine control technologies and industrial automation trends.
  • Collaborate with BEUMER’s global engineering organizations—including European development groups—to maintain alignment of controls standards and technical direction.
  • Contribute to the evolution of BEUMER’s global control platform strategy.

Additional Engineering Tasks

  • Prepare and test PLC hardware for projects when assigned.
  • Provide second‑tier technical support for escalations requiring advanced troubleshooting.
  • Assist in development efforts for packaging/palletizing or airport systems when needed.

Compensation range: $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 Annually

The posted salary range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.

  • Strong proficiency with Allen‑Bradley (Rockwell) and Siemens TIA Portal platforms.
