Job Description
The Data and Technology Services (DTS) Division of RESPEC seeks a Principal Consultant (PC) to provide complex/expertise in Information Technology and engineering consultation in high-speed PCB design, VHDL in Vivado and Vitus, software design for LabVIEW-based systems, and design control systems using NI Compact RIO and PXI instrumentation for the purpose of supporting Electromagnetic Effects testing and data acquisition systems. PC oversees the development of software project deliverables. PC oversees all aspects of software design, test, and integration. Working with the technical team, PC provides input to operational documentation, EME data analysis, and maintenance of diverse electronic / mechanical equipment systems and engineering projects. Our PC is regarded as an expert responsible for significant engineering task areas in analog / digital design, RF test & evaluation systems, and data acquisition systems design and implementation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- This work includes ongoing software design for EMP testing software systems, and integration of Network Analyzer, Digitizing Oscilloscope, and PXI-based VNA modules into the EMP testing suit as well as designing instrumentation controller components and embedded software.
- Assist in writing the technical proposal response to Statements of Work (SOW) and Performance Work Statements (PWS) for RFPs related to LLCW testing.
- Provide software maintenance for calibration support of Low Level Continuous Wave (LLCW) equipment and systems to perform EMP testing on Air Force assets.
- Responsible for tracking status of Government Furnished Equipment.
- Maintain working knowledge of state-of-the-art HMHS tools or software by reading or attending conferences, workshops or other training.
- Operate Portable Hardness Surveillance Test System (PHSTS) to acquire response data from AF asset under test. System provides stimulus via network analyzer/amplifier/ellipticus antenna and acquires response data from current probe/fiber optic transmitter/fiber optic cable/fiber optic receiver/network analyzer via computer control.
- Provide software maintenance and calibration oversight of equipment and systems.
- Identify and resolve software malfunctions, working with instrumentation manufacturers and field representatives as necessary to identify replacement(s).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 20 plus years of directly applicable job-related experience
- Demonstrated capability to interface with customers and provide direction to technically qualified personnel is preferred.
- Excellent communications and analytical skills, ability, and experience with writing technical documentation such as test procedures, user manuals, etc.; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
- Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software. Position may require travel.
- Candidate must be a US Citizen to obtain a security clearance

Salary depends on experience. This is a benefits ineligible position; however, statutory insurance coverage is provided.
