Job Summary
As a Senior Cloud Engineer at ZOLL Data Systems, you will be recognized as an advanced individual contributor and subject matter expert within the team. Across the organization, you will drive and evangelize configuration management activities across the entire R&D organization, providing best practices and ensuring our DevOps methodologies.
Essential Functions
  • Provide automated and orchestrated management of all SaaS platforms and technical solutions to complex problems that require creativity and dedication
  • Provide guidance and expertise to product developers as part of ZOLL's Site Reliability Engineering team
  • Lead and contribute to AWS development, maintenance, automation, and orchestration for application pools, websites, data services, virtual networks, security, monitoring, service discovery, and other platform services; ensuring that assignments are delivered on schedule and in accordance with ZOLL quality standards
  • Determine technical objectives of assignment; completed work is reviewed for desired results from a relatively long-term perspective
  • Guide the successful completion of all aspects of major programs, and will function in a project leadership role.
  • Contribute to the definition of, and enforce patterns, best practices, and strategies for source control structure, branching, and CI/CD
  • Enhance platform services with Terraform, Ansible, GIT, Artifactory, Jenkins, and Packer
  • Define, build, and enhance our Observability patterns and platform, using OTEL and other tooling
  • Collaborate to identify and enforce patterns for local developer environments to ensure consistency across all products and into production builds
  • Define, promote, and maintain SRE (DevOps) best practices across the ZOLL organization and product lines
  • Collaboratively participate with team members to identify areas for improvement and drive solutions
  • Partner with Architects and product development teams within Agile processes to build rock-solid services and expand our SaaS portfolio
  • Utilize Jira to manage Agile story production and escalated technical issues.
  • Participate in critical incident management and root cause analysis, with an after-hours rotation of tier-4 production support
  • Contributes to strategic planning for the team/platform

Required/Preferred Education and Experience
  • BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5+ years of experience developing production-level applications or automated deployment pipelines using Infrastructure as Code in a public cloud environment (AWS, Azure, Google) 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong expertise with AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.) is required; experience with GCP and/or Azure is a plus.
  • Proven experience with CI/CD tooling is required.

  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) is required.
  • Proven experience with CI/CD tooling is required.
  • Experience with TeamCity (build automation) and Artifactory (artifact repository) is desired.
  • Solid understanding of SDLC and DevOps methodologies, software engineering principles, and release management processes is required.
  • Expert-level experience logging and observing solutions (Splunk, Coralogix, OTEL, Graylog, ELK Stack, Cloudwatch)
  • Good understanding of cloud security, governance frameworks, and compliance standards (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA, ISO27001) is required.
  • Familiarity with ITIL/ITSM processes and experience running change management or release management frameworks is desired.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills is required.

The annual salary for this position is:

$145,000.00 to $165,000.00

This position is eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the company's bonus plan. Factors which may affect starting salary include geography, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
