Key Responsibilities
- Execute on a variety of legal and compliance matters across Coupang Japan’s business operations, including eCommerce, product, operations, HR, property, and compliance.
- Advise, draft, and negotiate a wide range of contracts with third parties.
- Support new business and product launches.
- Work closely and collaboratively with internal business partners including the Business, Product, and Operations teams, Compliance, Global Procurement, Finance, and other teams on projects and company-wide initiatives.
- Manage and instruct external law firms as required.
Qualifications:
- Qualified and admitted/licensed lawyer in Japan.
- 8+ years of post-qualification legal experience. A mixture of law firm and in-house experience is preferred.
- Fluency in written and spoken Japanese is mandatory. Business level English is also preferred but not mandatory.
- Exceptional ability to consistently deliver creative, thoughtful and business-oriented results that appropriately balance growth and risk in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
- A willingness to learn voraciously and take on new scope and challenges.
- Ability to adapt easily to rapid and diverse business changes.
- Strong and effective communication skills, both oral and written.
- Sound judgment in developing and implementing legal solutions.

Employment Type: Full-time
Probationary Period: 3 months
