As a Principal Architect at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer and Community Banking Self Service Enablement team, you are an integral part of a team that works to develop high-quality architecture solutions for various software applications and platforms products. You drive significant business impact and help shape the target state architecture through your capabilities in multiple architecture domains. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of engaging and sophisticated natural language conversational AI and search experiences, enabling convenient and friction-less consumer financial services. Your skills and expertise will be instrumental in promoting excellence in our architecture development efforts.

Job responsibilities

  • Represents a product family of technical governance bodies
  • Applies enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate architecture analysis, roadmap development, and design decisioning, with human-in-the-loop validation and appropriate handling of sensitive data.
  • Help define target state architecture in advanced search, conversational AI and self service UX
  • Produce solution architectures, together with the development team, assisting development through design, development and deployment into production
  • Guides evaluation of current technology and leads evaluation of new technologies using existing standards and frameworks
  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Drives decisions that influence product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firm wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Establishes reuse-first AI-enabled engineering patterns and governance across SDLC/toolchain practices, ensuring traceability/auditability, resiliency, and security controls.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience
  • Proven technology background with hands-on development experience (not solely high-level / business architecture)
  • Demonstrated ability to architect and deliver platforms at scale
  • Demonstrated experience applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment in architecture and engineering workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to evaluate and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into scalable platforms while meeting resiliency, security, and auditability requirements.
  • Demonstrated “platform thinking”: designing reusable frameworks/services intended for multiple lines of business
  • Proven experience producing solution designs and other architecture deliverables that engineering teams can execute against
  • Ability to work closely with engineering teams: partner with developers, guide technical decisions, and unblock delivery
  • Demonstrated experience driving integration across a large enterprise ecosystem (significant portion of role focused on integration)
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to present architecture clearly to varied audiences (engineering through senior leadership)
  • Ability to influence and align senior stakeholders (including managing directors) on architecture decisions and roadmaps
