Job SummaryThis position plans and implements the design, manufacture, installation and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, wiring and power systems/devices, for the generation, transmission and control of electric power.

- Preferred experience for this role:
- Designs and develops new brushed and multiphase brushless DC electric motors.
- Improves existing designs to reduce cost, improve performance or manufacturability.
- Conducts detailed reviews of customer specifications.
- Prepares or directs preparation of product and/or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
- Performs design experiments related to motor designs and develops test methods, from concept to planning and execution stage.
- Directs and coordinates manufacturing and testing of prototype products and/or systems.
- Assist in trouble shooting prototype building and/or production when necessary.
- Conducts motor performance predictions by analyses of actual data and through the development of design related algorithms in addition to the existing methods.
- May act as project engineer support on selected projects.
- Interface with customers for as required to support existing products or for new development opportunities.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
- Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
- May need to stand for long periods of time.
- Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
- This position is Safety-Sensitive.
