General Summary:
This position is responsible for leading the development and execution of Market Access and Pricing strategies across Distributors markets, with strong focus on South America and Middle East countries, approx. 14 countries. This role partners cross functionally with Commercial Directors as well as with International Pricing and Market Access and Global HEOR, Medical and Distributors partners in the countries of focus, with a focus on CF (Cystic Fibrosis). This position provides insights into regional pricing and market access strategies and works cross-functionally to shape the environment for access.
The right candidate will be responsible for the technical aspects of the access, pricing and reimbursement processes in South America and Middle East, including but not limited to independently leading and coordinating cross functional projects, project manager the preparation of reimbursement dossiers in cooperation with distributor partner. Negotiation with payors, response to payors questions, price management and business cases for new launch approvals and/or price changes, as well as supporting other market access efforts in the region.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position will develop market access materials (Price and Reimbursement submission in region, responses and engagement with payors, negotiation strategy) for Vertex medicines leading up to and during their launch.
- This position will lead the development of solid business cases per country/product for obtaining internal senior leadership approval.
- This position will create innovative offers and access programs. Prepare and lead payer negotiation in close collaboration with country commercial lead and market access distributors lead.
- Collaborate with distributors partners representatives in the country, other colleagues, and external consultants, as needed, with a particular emphasis on defining the Access Strategy per country/product, prepare reimbursement submissions, support the development of country-specific economic models and present economic evidence to payers, in cooperation with HEOR team and Distributor.
- This position will ensure pricing compliance across countries, manage country prices and analytics, and maintain updated Pricing Systems. In addition will be responsible for collecting local market insights, rules, and regulations.
- Enforces a culture of compliance and best practices as well as a commitment to continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of region operations
- The position will work closely with Vertex’s Commercial, finance, medical, legal, marketing and market access international teams, building and leveraging relationships with relevant stakeholders in line with Vertex’s approved and agreed business strategy.
- Maintains a good breadth of up-to-date payer insights across therapeutic area and countries to inform regional strategy without depending on limited country resources.
- Work closely with legal and OBIE departments to ensure compliance.
- Exhibit ownership and accountability for all projects and internal assignments.

Knowledge and Skills:
- Significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry (including prior market access roles and country specific experience), or in the market access space (e.g., consulting, payer experience).
- Experience managing negotiations directly with payors in the region or other regions.
- Experience working with Distributors partners and understanding healthcare systems, reimbursement pathways for orphan drugs in the countries of responsibility (South America and Middle East)
- Solid analytical and quantitative skills demonstrated by deliverables in recent position.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams, influencing without direct authority, with the interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and succeed in a highly matrixed environment.
- Excellent communication skills, strong oral/written presentation skills.
- Display solid ethics.
- Self-starter, able to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to propose and willingness to experiment new approaches to pricing and market access.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline
- Proven experience in a similar role or the equivalent combination of education and experience
