2nd shift hours: 2:50 pm – 11:00 pm - overtime would run until 1:00 am

Reporting directly to the Shift Manager, as a Press Operator, you will be responsible for the safe operation of production equipment using standard operating procedures. Responsibilities include providing assistance in various areas of our manufacturing process as directed. Strive to meet plant goals and customer requirements. Safety is the top priority of every employee.

What you will be doing:

  • Operate and run printing press.
  • Follows and adheres to all plant rules and plant safety rules and housekeeping, sustain 5S. Quality – understands and follows ALL Quality One Point Lessons.
  • Collect and inspect random samples during print runs to identify any necessary adjustments.
  • Check proofs for ink coverage and density, alignment, and registration.
  • Examine job orders to determine quantities to be printed, stock specifications, colors, or special printing instructions. Fill out paperwork correctly, i.e., Green Quality Checklist, Production Report Form.
  • Direct and monitor work of press Feeder Operator + Press Room Utility Operator.
  • Assist other areas as needed. i.e. help troubleshoot feeder.
  • Change press plates, or blankets, as required.
  • Obtain or mix inks and fill ink fountains and adjust ink fountain flow rates. Clean ink fountains, plates, or printing unit cylinders when press runs are completed.
  • Monitor automated Heidelberg press operation systems and respond appropriately.
  • Perform CILs (Clean Inspect Lubricate) and works with Maintenance or contracted technicians on Press Repairs or troubleshooting.
  • Be fully trained as a Feeder Operator.

We’d love to hear from you if:

  • Previous experience as a Press Operator is required. 
  • Must be able to count accurately and memorize the count, given distracting conditions. Must be able to do simple math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division and able to read and comprehend all forms and paperwork associated with this job and able to write legibly enough to fill out all forms and paperwork associated with this job.
  • Can ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Must be able to bend and use upper extremities. Maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Can exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Can work in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
