Assistant Group Supervisor
Pay: $10.25/hour starting

Position Summary
The YMCA of Indiana County is seeking an Assistant Group Supervisor to support the daily operation of our licensed childcare classroom. This position works closely with the Group Supervisor to provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. The Assistant Group Supervisor helps implement activities, supervise children and aides, maintain classroom organization, communicate with families and staff, and ensure compliance with YMCA policies and Pennsylvania childcare licensing requirements.
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist with implementing daily classroom activities and curriculum under the direction of the Group Supervisor.
- Supervise children and provide for their safety and well-being while in YMCA care.
- Coordinate daily activities and supervise aides in the absence of the Group Supervisor.
- Promote positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Help maintain appropriate classroom coverage and communicate staffing concerns to the supervisor.
- Communicate incidents, accidents, and other concerns to the supervisor promptly.
- Assist with maintaining classroom supplies, educational materials, first-aid supplies, snacks, and other program needs.
- Support a positive, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
- Follow YMCA policies, Pennsylvania childcare regulations, and child abuse reporting requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Must meet the qualifications for Assistant Group Supervisor under 55 PA Code § 3270.36.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work patiently and professionally with children, families, coworkers, and supervisors.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to plan and manage classroom activities and support positive behavior.
- Ability to safely lift at least 35 pounds on a regular basis.
Required Clearances & Certifications
- FBI Fingerprint Clearance through the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH Clearance.
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance.
- Mandated Reporter Training.
- National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR) Certificate.
- DHS-required 10 hours of training.
- Staff Health Assessment less than 12 months old.
- Negative TB test documentation less than 12 months old.
- Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certification due within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, educational, or youth program setting.
- Experience with curriculum development, classroom activities, or maintaining program records.
- Experience using Microsoft Office.
- Previous experience in a licensed childcare setting.
