Job Description

Our LV & MV Switchgear divisions design and manufacture electrical distribution equipment for business-critical applications throughout Europe. Due to continued growth, Vertiv is seeking to recruit ambitious and motivated Presales MV Engineer to join our team. This position is best suited to someone who enjoys being technically challenged and applying electrical principles to produce successful solutions in a busy design office, with proximity to the manufacturing environment to test and prove theoretical designs. Overall core responsibilities & requirements of the role: 

  • Deep knowledge of switchgear design, power distribution, and mechanical/electrical components. 
  • Acting as a trusted advisor, translating complex client requirements into technical solutions (Pre-sales, proposals). 
  • Design and development of MV arrangements/components in compliance with specifications, IEC/IEEE requirements, and applicable standards. 
  • Detailed analysis of MV arrangements/components, focusing on performance evaluation, design optimization, component selection and sizing, and control strategy. 
  • Collaboration in an interdisciplinary engineering environment (with embedded, test, and mechanical engineers) to define requirements, participate in design verification, and ensure successful integration of MV option designs. 
  • Continuous improvement of existing designs, evaluation of application issues, and resolution of those issues in the design of new products. 
  • Evaluation of recent technologies to enhance and implement current MV product range. 
  • Adherence to agreed project timelines. 
  • Preparation of technical reports. 
  • Communicate effectively with the customer and maintain a high customer satisfaction level. 
  • Advise any (discrepancy) differences to sales estimator to coordinate. 
  •  Adhere to H&S guidelines and policy of the company while in the factory and at site. 
  •  Collaborate closely with Estimating colleagues to cost new MV options. 
  •  Collaborate closely with CAD colleagues produce pre-engineering designs for new MV options. 
  • Ensure new options are installed during production and are commissioned to achieve the desired operational results. 
  •  Attend site meetings & supplier facilities when necessary. 

Some travel may be required 

Qualifications 

Required/ Minimum Qualifications:  

  • University degree or equivalent experience in a related field is required.  
  • Minimum 4-7 years' experience. 
  • Proficiency in medium voltage switchgear & principles of power distribution. 

Additional / Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Firsthand experience with MV switchgear. 
  • Knowledge of MV protection relay operations. 
  • Strong analytical skills combined with excellent problem-solving abilities and interpersonal communication.

Skills Required

  • University degree or equivalent experience in a related field
