Schedule Details/Additional Information:
Weekday evenings from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm and weekends from 8 am to 4 pm, 3 to 5 classes a month.
1-2 years of women's health experience required.
Major Responsibilities:
Assist in the implementation, and evaluation, of educational programs and services to fulfill community needs and consumer demands.
1)Assist in the preparation of syllabi for classes offered, and submission of list of teaching aides required.
2)Amount of time teaching will depend on the number of classes taught by each instructor during the week.
3)Instructors are expected to set-up for each class: handouts, instructional aides, charts, videos, and leave area ready for next day’s class. Certificates for clients are prepared by each instructor for her own students.
4)Accessing new teaching aides, writing, and typing of new class materials are the responsibility of the instructors.
Participate in the maintenance of communication between Perinatal educators, OB staff, and physicians for the purpose of facilitating patient education and support
Instructors are expected to attend 90% of meetings with the Clinical Lead of Perinatal Educator.
Each instructor is expected to attend 2 staff meetings per year for the department of OB (SCN, L & D, or PP).
Instructors are expected to maintain certification in Lamaze International which requires attendance at workshops, conventions, and choose 3 observations per year in either labor & delivery, postpartum or SCN, to stay abreast of the changes and maintain professional skills regarding teaching the pregnant client and her support person.
Licensure:
Nurse, Registered (RN)
Education/Experience Required:
Willingness to conform with the established teaching format at Good Shepherd Hospital. 1-2 years women's health nursing experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
Women's Health experience required.
CPR certified Current RN Licensure Application for Lamaze International certification

Demonstrate ability to function in unplanned and crisis situations Demonstrates ability to cope with human experiences and crisis situations through a broad scope of emotions Must be able to handle complex situations Ability to handle multiple tasks and complete work within short timeframes Willingness to participate in educational programs and staff meetings Willingness to learn unit related activities (Birth Center and Mother/Baby Unit) Ability to interact and respond to staff in a professional manner Demonstrates independent decision and problem solving abilities Knowledge of class outlines and able to substitute as needed Must be able to work holidays and weekends, days and evenings Must be flexible in work schedule
If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Pay Range
$34.90 - $52.35
