The Solutions Consultant – Indirect Tax, India will play a key pre-sales role in driving revenue growth for Thomson Reuters' tax technology portfolio across the India market.
This role is responsible for partnering closely with Sales teams to identify, qualify, shape, and close strategic opportunities by bringing deep domain expertise in indirect tax, GST, e-invoicing, compliance workflows, and tax technology solutions. The Solutions Consultant will act as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them understand how Thomson Reuters solutions can address their business, compliance, operational, and technology challenges.
As a subject matter expert, you will lead customer discovery, solution positioning, product demonstrations, proposal support, and executive-level conversations throughout the sales cycle. You will help translate customer pain points into compelling solution strategies that differentiate Thomson Reuters from competitors and support successful deal outcomes.
This is a client-facing, commercially focused pre-sales role requiring strong tax domain knowledge, consultative selling skills, and the ability to influence both customers and internal stakeholders.
About the role
Pre-Sales & Solution Consulting
Partner with Sales teams to support the full sales cycle from opportunity qualification through solution design, proposal development, negotiation support, and deal closure.
Lead customer discovery sessions to understand business challenges, compliance requirements, current tax processes, technology landscape, and desired outcomes.
Recommend the most appropriate Thomson Reuters tax solutions based on customer needs, business priorities, and regulatory requirements.
Translate complex indirect tax, GST, and e-invoicing requirements into clear, compelling solution narratives for customers.
Develop differentiated value propositions that clearly position Thomson Reuters against competitors.
Support Sales teams in qualifying opportunities, defining scope, identifying decision criteria, and progressing deals through the pipeline.
Help develop and close new business opportunities to meet and exceed gross sales targets.
Product Demonstrations & Customer Engagement
Own and deliver tailored product demonstrations aligned to customer pain points, use cases, industry requirements, and buying-stage maturity.
Present Thomson Reuters solutions confidently to a range of stakeholders, including tax, finance, IT, procurement, shared services, and executive leadership.
Lead solution workshops, proof-of-concept discussions, and technical or functional deep-dive sessions where required.
Support complex customer engagements by providing subject matter expertise and solution credibility.
Assist in strategic retention and renewal situations by reinforcing solution value and identifying expansion opportunities.
Proposal, RFP & Deal Support
Support responses to RFPs, RFIs, tenders, and customer questionnaires with strong functional, domain, and solution input.
Contribute to proposal development, solution architecture, business case creation, and commercial positioning.
Work with Sales, Product, Legal, Commercial Policy, and other internal teams to support complex deal execution.
Provide insight during bid strategy discussions and help shape winning proposals for strategic accounts.
Market, Domain & Thought Leadership

Bring market insights and domain expertise into customer conversations to build credibility and trusted advisor status.

Work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Customer Success, Professional Services, and Support teams to ensure customer requirements are understood and addressed.
Contribute to continuous improvement in pre-sales processes, sales enablement, customer engagement models, and organizational effectiveness.
About You
The successful candidate will be a commercially minded tax technology professional with strong pre-sales, consulting, or solution-selling experience. You will be comfortable engaging senior stakeholders, uncovering customer needs, positioning enterprise solutions, and helping Sales teams close complex opportunities.
CA qualification
Typically 10+ years of relevant industry experience in indirect tax, GST, e-invoicing, tax technology, finance transformation, consulting, pre-sales, or enterprise software solutions.
Strong understanding of Indian indirect tax regulations, GST compliance, e-invoicing, e-way bill processes, and related tax technology workflows.
Proven experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in pre-sales, solution consulting, tax technology consulting, enterprise software sales support, or advisory services.
Demonstrated ability to support or influence complex B2B sales cycles.
Strong commercial acumen and understanding of the sales process, including opportunity qualification, discovery, solution positioning, objection handling, proposal support, and deal closure.
Experience supporting RFPs, RFIs, tenders, proposals, demonstrations, or bid processes.
Ability to understand customer business challenges and map them to appropriate solutions.
Strong presentation, storytelling, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders across tax, finance, accounting, IT, procurement, and executive leadership.
Consultative mindset with strong problem-solving skills and a customer-first approach.
Ability to manage multiple opportunities, priorities, and pre-sales projects simultaneously.
Experience identifying cross-sell and up-sell opportunities across a broader tax, accounting, or compliance solution portfolio.
