Job Description

The Pre-Employment Coordinator is responsible for reviewing and evaluating background check results to support compliant and consistent hiring decisions. This role adjudicates criminal, employment, and education screenings in alignment with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulations. 

This position also serves as a key liaison between internal teams, applicants, and the background screening vendor to ensure a smooth and timely screening process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adjudicate background checks (criminal, employment, education, and MVR as applicable) 
  • Apply company guidelines and regulatory requirements (FCRA, EEOC, state/local laws) 
  • Assess discrepancies and document clear, audit-ready decisions 
  • Act as liaison with requesters, applicants, and screening vendor 
  • Support adverse action process in partnership with HR/compliance 
  • Monitor performance metrics (turnaround times, backlog, vendor SLAs) 
  • Identify trends and recommend process improvements 
  • Coordinate Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with the screening vendor 
  • Support Americas Security, Health and Safety team as needed

Qualifications

Required: 

  • 3+ years experience with Expeditors 
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent experience 
  • Knowledge of criminal, education, and employment verifications 
  • Strong attention to detail and decision-making skills 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills 

Preferred: 

  • 2+ years in background screening, adjudication, or HR compliance 
  • Familiarity with Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and applicable hiring regulations 
  • Experience in a high-volume, multi-state environment 
  • Vendor management experience  
  • Ability to interpret complex criminal records 
  • Experience with reporting, metrics, and performance monitoring 
  • Exposure to audits or regulated environments 
  • Process improvement and workflow optimization experience

Additional Information

The role reports to the Americas Director of Security, Health and Safety and can sit anywhere in the U.S.
