JOB PURPOSE:
Serves in an entry-level role reviewing/interpreting customer-provided specifications and drawings, collecting pricing, recording in VFP systems, and preparing vendor quotes. This position aids the estimating team in bidding new business and requires the ability to handle multiple tasks to meet customer-mandated time schedules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in the bids and proposals process to estimate costs and prepares detailed vendor quotes prior to estimation.
- Determines material quantities required for total job cost. This is accomplished using tables and data established within the department and obtaining quotations from suppliers and/or subcontractors.
- Checks and confirms that customer specifications and drawings align with vendors’ returned quotes.
- Creates pre-bid folders and verifies quotes accuracy prior to submittal in Worldox.
- Coordinates with engineering as necessary to determine compliance with state building codes prior to estimation.
- Interacts with sales team as needed to resolve discrepancies during the review process.
- Maintains adherence to company policies and safety standards.
- Interacts with management, marketing, production, and engineering as required.
- Performs other necessary duties as assigned by Bids and Proposals Manager.
EDUCATION:
- Four-year bachelor's (BA) degree from accredited college or university preferred or must have a minimum high school diploma, GED, vocational (trades) or associate degree.
- Four years’ experience in administrative work or equivalent preferred.
