About ai&

ai& is a new global AI technology company dedicated to meeting the world's growing demand for AI. Our vision is twofold: to serve as a premier AI lab specializing in localization, and to act as a global infrastructure and compute provider. We are building a unified, optimized global platform that integrates next-generation data centers and infrastructure, heterogeneous compute serving, and advanced model services. We believe that the most effective way to build and scale AI is to own the stack from top to bottom.

At ai&, we empower small teams with the autonomy needed to tackle significant challenges. Our approach is to deconstruct large problems into manageable components and solve complex issues collaboratively. We seek highly motivated, mission-driven individuals who demonstrate strong personal agency. We value curiosity as the foundation of talent, and we are looking for people eager to develop alongside our evolving technology and expanding business.

We are actively hiring worldwide, with presence in Tokyo, SF, Austin, and Toronto. We are more than happy to meet exceptional talent where they are.

Role overview

As PR Specialist at ai&, you will lead our public relations and communications efforts across Japan and international markets — shaping how the world understands a company building the physical and software layers of AI. AI infrastructure is becoming front-page news: data centers, compute sovereignty, and the companies building the stack are drawing serious attention from business press, technology media, and mainstream outlets alike. You will make sure ai& is part of that conversation, and that the story told is accurate, compelling, and strategically aligned.

This is not a press release factory role. You will craft the stories that define how the market understands ai& — from our vertically integrated infrastructure thesis to our model services and developer platform — and you will execute across media, social, content, and events. You will oversee agency and vendor partners, build repeatable comms processes, and deliver measurable impact through high-quality, regionally resonant storytelling.

You will work closely with leadership, government relations, marketing, product, and partner teams to ensure messaging is consistent and credible as the company scales. In a company building physical infrastructure in Japan and serving customers globally, earned media credibility is a strategic asset. You are responsible for building it.

Responsibilities
  • Integrated Communications Strategy: Develop and execute integrated communications strategies across corporate, product, and executive comms — aligned with global messaging to increase brand awareness and trust.

  • Media Relations & Press Strategy: Build and maintain relationships with key journalists and media outlets covering AI, technology, infrastructure, and business in Japan and internationally. Proactively pitch thought leadership and story opportunities that increase ai&’s exposure in focus markets.

  • Narrative & Messaging Frameworks: Craft the core narratives that define ai& in the market — vertical integration, Japan-based global infrastructure, heterogeneous compute, and developer-first AI services. Ensure clarity and consistency across all external messaging and content.

  • Social Media & Editorial Calendar: Own day-to-day management for social channels. Build weekly/monthly editorial calendars aligned to messaging, product milestones, and local opportunities. Use performance data to improve cadence, engagement, and growth.

  • Content Creation & Localization: Draft and localize high-quality content including press releases, talking points, blogs, contributed articles, and briefing materials. Ensure cultural relevance without losing technical accuracy or strategic intent.

  • Launch & Event Execution: Support product launches, partner announcements, and campaigns with localized strategies that deliver measurable impact. Plan and execute events (webinars, media briefings/roundtables, tradeshows) and ensure flawless execution and brand consistency.

  • Agency & Vendor Management: Manage PR/social agencies and external vendors — holding partners accountable to quality, timelines, and budget commitments.

  • Measurement, Reporting, and Process: Track, analyze, and report PR/social results (coverage, engagement, sentiment, growth). Provide post-campaign summaries and recommendations, and build processes/playbooks that improve speed and quality over time.

You may be a fit if you have the following skills
  • Narrative Craft (High-Quality Writing): You are an excellent writer and storyteller. You can take a technically complex company and distill it into narratives that resonate with business press, technology media, and general audiences. You know the difference between a press release and a story.

  • Data-Driven Communications: You are comfortable tracking outcomes (coverage, engagement, growth, sentiment) and using data to improve strategy — not just to fill dashboards.

  • PR Experience in Technology (B2B): Proven experience in public relations, communications, or media relations within the technology sector. Experience in AI, cloud infrastructure, semiconductors, or deep tech is a strong signal.

  • Media Network in Japan: Established relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets covering technology and business in Japan. You know who covers what, how they prefer to work, and how to build trust with the press over time.

  • Social + Event Execution: Experience running social channels and planning/executing launches and events. You handle logistics, coordination, and follow-up with the kind of precision that makes the difference between good coverage and great coverage.

  • Bilingual Fluency: Professional fluency in Japanese and English is required. You operate comfortably in both languages across media interactions, internal strategy discussions, and written communications.

  • Ownership & Process Orientation: You can operate independently, manage multiple priorities, and build lightweight processes that raise quality and speed in a fast-moving environment.

  • Great Team Spirit: A mission-driven approach to communications, valuing clarity, accuracy, and collective success over personal visibility.

  • AI Tools and Workflows: You need to have a passion and enthusiasm for using (or learning to use) the latest AI tools, workflows and agents. ai& is an AI company and as AI redefines the workplace, we want you to be at the forefront of adopting, using and making these tools.

Skills Required

  • Proven experience in public relations, communications, or media relations within the technology sector
  • Established relationships with journalists in Japan
  • Bilingual fluency in Japanese and English
  • Experience running social channels and planning events
  • Comfortable with data tracking and analysis
