Responsibilities:
└(30%) Creation of Japanese Language Press Releases (including uploading to the website and distribution works): Must be able to work in correct Japanese and be thorough in every detail to ensure no errors or misleading expressions in the content. Must be able to write straightforward and easy-to-understand sentences while avoiding using crass expressions as official documents.
└(30%) Media Relations (including media coverage analysis, approaching and responding to reporters, and writing proposals that generate news value): Must be able to answer sincerely, quickly, and politely. Must have connections with at least 2-3 reporters/journalists and be able to pitch to them for a creative story. Must have a network of Japanese media and influencers.
└(30%) Localisation Work Japanese↔️ English (global announcement releases, internal reporting materials, briefing notes to management, etc.) *Recommended to use machine translation: you do not need to speak English, but reading and writing English is required.
└(10%) PR activities on social networking sites: draft writing and posting for posting on Meta, X and LinledIn.
Required skills and experience:
- At least 3 years of experience as a “Corporate Communications/PR Officer” for intangible products in the Japanese market.
- Track record of creative storytelling crafting of corporate communication materials (press releases, Q&A documents, blogs), with a proven communicator with exceptional written and verbal ability in Japanese.
- Great communicators who can understand complex issues and have the ability to explain them in person, in writing, and in other media formats (videos, SNS posts, etc.) in excellent Japanese.
- Solid experience dealing with media requests, both mainstream and trade/analyst.
- Relationships with and understanding crucial online, social, offline, and broadcast media.
- A global perspective and experience working in a cross-border, multi-cultural environment with excellent team skills to work across the business with global offices/teams.
- Problem solver with a cool head who can be hands-on.
- Flexible, collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
- Ability to learn complex research, technology, and business structures quickly and proactively.
- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Journalism, or other related areas or equivalent work experience is required.
- Experience as a journalist or in a public relations/public affairs agency, government agency, or related area is also advantageous.
Desired skills and experiences:
- Experience working in Global SaaS and IT technology sectors with an understanding of Artificial Intelligence.
- Experience in proactive press outreach and building relationships with journalists to produce articles.
- Build relationships with critical media and influencers, understanding their needs and how to develop and pitch valuable content that addresses market trends and topics.
- Understand and deploy social media and digital content/channels within communications programs (earned, paid, owned, shared media).
- Support and guide executives and spokespeople in their communication engagements.
- Experience working with global corporations or local government, working/ learning experiences in foreign countries.
- Experience implementing internal communications plans (handling communications of internal initiatives, communications for enhancing employee engagement, internal awareness-raising activities, etc.
