We’re looking for a PR & Communications Manager - Germany

The PR & Communications Manager will play a crucial role in the next stage of our growth in Germany. We have our sights set on a bolder ambition: to help one million businesses in need. Achieving this requires smart and hands-on people to help us hit that goal.

About us

Fast, flexible finance empowers small businesses to manage their cash flow better and seize opportunities - making their business and the economy stronger as a whole. At iwoca, we do just that. We help businesses get the funds they need, when they need it, often within minutes.

We’ve already made several billion in funding available to over 100,000 businesses since we launched in 2012, and positioned ourselves as a leading Fintech in Europe. Our mission is to finance one million businesses. We’ll get there by continuing to make our finance ever more relevant and accessible to more businesses by combining cutting-edge technology, data science and a 5-star customer service

Your mission

Our Global PR team is all about making sure our company’s story is told in the best way possible, wherever we operate. We’re a growing global team working together to create campaigns that resonate with different audiences. The team collaborates across departments - like product,  marketing and partnerships - to craft narratives that highlight our impact. We’re also big on empowering local teams, giving them the tools and support to tailor strategies for their markets while helping to grow the business.

  • You have a strong network of journalists who can help you deliver a PR strategy for Germany which positions iwoca as the best non-bank provider of small business finance among potential customers and investors.

  • You can be based in either Germany or the UK. We have lovely offices in Berlin, Frankfurt, London and Leeds. Flexible working is also an option.

  • With the support of senior DE leaders and the PR Director, you’ll be responsible for leading on a more proactive approach to developing and executing B2B and B2C PR plans for new partnerships, new products, and other strategic announcements.

  • Building high-profile and positive perceptions of iwoca and its mission across all audiences via brand PR activations. Communicate our brand offer and build a strong understanding with customers and influencers, demonstrating the benefits of our product.

  • Working with the Global PR Director to support senior staff in the DE team around media issues and reputational risks.

  • You will also be responsible for supporting communications outside of just media relations. This will include helping to craft and then respond to reviews on sites such as TrustPilot and Google.

  • You will measure impact with monitoring tools such as Signal AI and Cision.

Requirements

  • You are a fluent or native German speaker.

  • A senior operator with at least 6-8 years’ in-market experience (agency or in-house).

  • You will have a strong network of journalists and specialists, who have ideally published prior work of yours. We’d like to see some examples!

  • You’ll be a steely and tenacious pitcher of PR stories with an excellent understanding of how German media works and what makes them tick.

  • Ability to curate intelligent press releases and media pitches in tight timeframes.

  • A creative mind, adept at finding the news hook whatever the company or campaign.

  • Ability to communicate with CEOs/DE GM/founders clearly and confidently.

  • Self-starter, full of energy and a great work ethic.

The culture

At iwoca, we look to hire smart, passionate, humble individuals with a growth mindset. We prioritise a culture of learning, growth, and support, and invest in the professional development of our team members.

We value thought and skill diversity and encourage you to explore new areas of interest to help us innovate and improve our products and services.

Our friendly and inclusive environment, combined with our flexible work policies, ensures that you'll have the perfect balance between work and life, empowering you to thrive both personally and professionally.

The offices

We put a lot of effort into making iwoca a brilliant place to work:

  • Offices in London, Leeds, and Frankfurt with plenty of drinks and snacks

  • Events and clubs, like bingo, comedy nights, yoga classes, football, etc.

The benefits

  • A smart, motivated and international team (we represent over 35 different nationalities) with ridiculous growth-mindset

  • 26 days of vacation a year plus a free day for your birthday

  • One-month fully paid sabbatical after 4 years

  • Share options

  • Mental health support via OpenUp

  • iwoca takes over a ski chalet in winter so that you and your team can ski or snowboard (and work) for a week. During summer we are drawn to the sun.

  • Access to the gym membership program, €25 pm for either Fit711 or Urban Sports Club

  • Exclusive participation in the daily commute, €25 pm to the Deutschlandticket

  • Our home is in a nice office in the heart of the big city. In Frankfurt in the beautiful Ostend, our London office is located centrally in Fitzrovia

  • Company-wide training courses with internal and external speakers

  • A paid volunteer day that gives you the opportunity to invest time to support a charity of your choice.

  • ’iwocans’ also benefit from fully stocked fridges in our offices with whatever is needed to strengthen them. There are snacks (both healthy and less healthy) for the whole day.

What We Do

iwoca was founded to expand possibilities for small businesses.

At iwoca, we believe finance should feel like a superpower, not a headache. That’s why our founders, Chris and James, decided to create a solution custom-built for small businesses. One that strips out the hassle, gets to know what each business needs, and looks for opportunities rather than problems. One that provides access to finance where and when your business needs it.

Our partner integrations and our Lending API mean we can provide access to finance where and when small businesses need it. Our award winning credit risk engine help us make faster, more accurate credit decisions built around the performance of the business.

We are proud to be NACFB Lender of the year, Xero Financial Services App of the year and, most recently, winner of the £10m Banking Competition Remedies grant.

Since 2012, we’ve made funding available to over 50,000 businesses, from cafés to car dealers, salons to solicitors. But we’ve only just started. Our mission is to fund one million small businesses.
