UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is advertising for an internship position with the Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP), Brazil. The internship will be within UNHCR’s Private Partnerships and Philanthropy Section (PPH), which is headed by the Assistant Officer, based in Sao Paulo, who supervises 2 positions, which are split into Brasilia (Backend) and Sao Paulo (this internship position). The incumbent will have a direct reporting line to the PPH Assistant Officer.
This exciting internship is a unique opportunity to gain experience in not-for-profit branding as well as experience working within the UN system. The selected candidate will provide support to the unit, which includes high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporations.
We are seeking a proactive team player, with a genuine desire to learn and develop to assist with the PPH Brazil fundraising operation.
Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Support on donor proposals for fundraising (corporations, foundations and individuals)
• Research donor philanthropic profile and potential to support UNHCR
• Keep existing and potential PPH donors informed about UNHCR work and priorities
• Register all leadership donor (PPH) information on CRM database
• Help produce publications and PPT presentations for PPH donor meetings and events
• Schedule meetings with potential and existing PPH donors by phone and email
• Support and check deliveries from consultants and other service providers
• Help organize exclusive events for PPH Donors
• Support procurement processes
• Provide administrative support to the unit
• Support with newsletters and other communication materials to donors and prospects
• Carry out research on specific topics related to Islamic Philanthropy activities in Brazil.
• Assist PSP Brazil with campaigns and with monitoring websites and social media portals for Islamic Philanthropists.
Minimum qualifications required:
The ideal candidate will
• Be a recent graduate (completed studies within one year of applying to this internship) or current student in graduate/undergraduate school program in a relevant field (Public Relations, Marketing, International Relations or related fields) from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO;
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest of the work of UNHCR;
• Have excellent planning and organisation skills, with attention to detail
• Be fluent in English, with advanced writing/editing skills. Additional languages are desirable.
• Capable of online research and maintaining simple databases and for project management.
• Have good experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Have demonstrated interpersonal skills.
• Be able to multi-task and to prioritise workload.
• Be a flexible team-player.
