About You

You’re a hands-on PPC and Google suite expert who has managed complex PPC accounts in-house, without reliance on agency partnerships. You boast a demonstrable track record of scaling and optimising performance.

You're fluent in, and comfortable optimising for key trading metrics such as CPA, LTV and can make commercially sound decisions and optimisations at pace. You’re the resident expert in all things paid search, keeping pace with industry innovations and best practice.

You’ve operated in fast paced, ambiguous growth environments with demanding trading targets and complex customer journeys, sweating the detail of every campaign and the value of every pound spent to deliver best in class channels performance and business outcomes

Experience in regulated industries, in particular Financial Services is an advantage, as is a proven ability to navigate complex compliance requirements.

What you'll be doing
  • Own PPC performance across Search, PMax, and DemandGen to hit business and budget efficiency targets and continuously improves KPIs

  • Coordinate Google campaigns with other digital marketing channels for a cohesive marketing approach.

  • Build cross-format strategies using Search for high-intent, DemandGen for prospecting, and PMax for scale and automation.

  • Actively collaborate with data and product peers to enhance the performance of your channels and the customers experience

  • Collaborate with creative teams to develop asset variations matched to audience segments and funnel stages.

  • Introduce automation and scripts to improve efficiency.

  • Use audience insights from Google Ads and other analytics platforms to inform cross-channel planning.

  • Confidently forecast channel level performance

  • Report to stakeholders, translating performance into business outcomes.

Skills
  • Hands-on Execution - Manages day-to-day PPC activity across search, shopping, display and other formats with a clear focus on campaign delivery, pacing, and performance. Builds and launches campaigns confidently, ensuring structure, targeting, and creative are set up accurately. Runs regular QA checks to maintain high standards and prevent issues before they impact performance.

  • Analytical Skills - Comfortable working with data to understand what’s driving results. Regularly analyses campaign performance to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Uses data visualisation tools (e.g. Looker, GA) to build simple dashboards, track KPIs, and surface insights that inform tactical decisions. Turns numbers into clear actions to optimise campaigns.

  • Forecasting and Planning - Supports budget planning and forecasting by analysing historical data and current performance trends. Provides input on spend allocation across campaigns and formats to meet performance targets. Tracks delivery against forecasts and flags risks or opportunities early, ensuring plans stay aligned with business goals.

  • Technical Background - Confident diagnosing and fixing basic tracking and tagging issues, including troubleshooting Google Tag Manager, UTM structures, and platform conversion setups. Ensures campaigns are set up correctly from the start and that tracking is reliable. Works with analytics or engineering teams when more complex issues arise.

  • Tactics & Optimisation - Develops structured testing plans across creative, keyword targeting, bidding, and placements. Executes A/B tests methodically, documents learnings, and applies them to scale performance. Regularly reviews campaigns to optimise bids, budgets, and targeting for efficiency and growth, with a focus on driving incremental results.

  • Channel Strategy - Understands how PPC activity fits into the wider customer journey. Can interpret performance at the account, campaign, and product level to identify where to push spend and where to pull back. Keeps a close eye on key metrics like CTR, CPA, ROAS, and conversion rates to inform day-to-day tactical decisions.

  • Wider Business Context - Aligns PPC activity with business priorities and commercial cycles. Applies learnings from market trends and competitor activity to optimise campaigns. Communicates performance clearly to internal stakeholders, highlighting the impact of PPC on broader marketing and commercial objectives.
