Powerplant Engineer I

Job Description

The Powerplant Engineer I provides technical engineering support for aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul activities. The role is responsible for developing maintenance work scopes, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, managing engine configurations, and supporting customer requirements. The engineer serves as a technical resource for maintenance personnel and customers throughout the engine maintenance process.

Requirements

  • 4–5 years of aviation engineering experience. 
  • Strong understanding of FAA regulations and Airworthiness Directives (ADs). 
  • Knowledge of Service Bulletins (SBs) and engine configuration management. 
  • Experience developing engine maintenance work scopes. 
  • Strong customer communication and relationship management skills. 
  • High level of technical understanding of aircraft engines and maintenance      processes. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop  maintenance work scopes and repair recommendations. 
  • Interpret and apply FAA regulations, ADs, and SBs. 
  • Review engine records and determine maintenance requirements. 
  • Provide technical support to customers and internal teams. 
  • Manage engine configurations and maintenance documentation. 
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to evaluate and solve complex technical problems
  • Able to work in flexible team environment
  • Available to support maintenance activities across all shifts
  • Able to work independently to complete assigned technical projects

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in aviation MRO, engine overhaul, or airline engineering
  • Strong knowledge of turbofan engine systems (compressors, combustors, turbines, FADEC systems)
  • Experience with engine programs such as CFM56, LEAP, CF6
  • Familiarity with aviation regulatory frameworks (FAA Part 145, EASA Part 145)
  • Ability to read and interpret OEM technical publications, service bulletins, and engineering drawings
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to wear a respirator without restrictions (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134)
  • Available to work flexible hours and support maintenance across shifts; subject to FAA random drug and alcohol testing
