General Role Description

Provide technical direction for grid integration of renewable energy systems across new and existing products and projects, including power system studies, interconnection applications, and field issue resolution

Role Accountabilities

-   Assess and define optimum technical solutions to meet requirements for new applications including PV and ESS systems

-   Research and assess the Company's products and competitive position for Balance of System components, integration techniques and system performance to recommend product enhancements and new products to senior management

-   Interface with the client and provide critical information for the preparation of system models and bankability reports and provide guidance to third party suppliers of these items and in support of client interconnect applications and exploratory activities

-   Lead technical discussions during the product specification and development process, in collaboration with the product manager and parent company design teams

-   Create and assemble documentation for new products and solutions that articulate the benefits of the Company's solution and propose competitive options applicable to the clients' needs

-   Present unique Company technical solutions to management, employees, clients and others at technical meetings, conferences and via technical articles or professional society publications

-   Provide input to the product manager in the development of new products and solutions, including development of requirements including target cost, monitoring of the development schedule, providing technical direction through first deployment, and transitioning to the Business Unit

-   Develop and maintain relationships in the power industry with key influencers and early adopters and report findings and recommendations to the Business Development team

-   Monitor emerging industry trends; provide technical input and influence in new technologies, and in standards and regulations development where practical; and report to Business Development team to assist in product strategy

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering or related field or equivalent via education and/or work experience
  • 3 years' experience in the application of power conversion products and systems, which may include post-graduate studies
  • Demonstrated engineering experience in the renewable energy industry
  • Demonstrated experience with power systems analysis/modeling (PSCAD, PSEE, PSLF)
  • Demonstrated experience creating and presenting technical papers to industry groups, trade shows, clients, or academia
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Office, software programming, and simulation tools
  • Availability to travel domestically, approximately 20%, and internationally, approximately 10%, often with limited notice

Preferred Qualifications

-       Master of science or Doctorate degree in electrical engineering

-       7 years' experience in the application of power conversion products and systems

-       5 years' experience in power systems analysis/modeling

-       Demonstrated experience facilitating the preparation of bankability reports required in the renewable energy industry

-       Knowledge and experience with TMEIC power electronic products
