As a Power Supply System Specialist, you will provide technical assistance, advice and expertise in relation to the maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of electrical power systems across critical infrastructure assets. You will support the planning and delivery of maintenance activities, manage maintenance projects, contribute to asset reliability and performance, and ensure the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational excellence are maintained.

You will also play an important role in supporting and developing technical teams, promoting best practice and contributing to the effective management of the Power Supply function.

  • Provide technical expertise and support for preventative and corrective maintenance activities across power supply systems.

  • Investigate, diagnose and support the resolution of complex electrical faults and operational issues.

  • Plan, prepare and coordinate specialist maintenance activities, ensuring risks are identified, assessed and effectively controlled.

  • Support the development of technical studies, engineering specifications and tender documentation, and contribute to supplier selection activities.

  • Manage maintenance and engineering projects, including contractor coordination, work preparation, implementation and project delivery.

  • Monitor asset performance and identify opportunities to improve system reliability, safety and maintenance effectiveness.

  • Maintain and improve technical documentation, engineering standards and maintenance strategies.

  • Work collaboratively with maintenance, operational and support teams to ensure effective communication and delivery of activities.

  • Support the development of technicians through coaching, knowledge sharing and technical guidance.

  • Participate in safety audits, inspections, incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to team leadership activities and deputise for the Power Supply Group Leader when required.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • HNC, HND, Degree, apprenticeship qualification or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience working within electrical power systems, electrical distribution networks, industrial electrical maintenance, utilities, energy or similar engineering environments.

  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and technical problem-solving skills.

  • Experience planning, coordinating or delivering maintenance or engineering activities.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics and engineering specifications.

  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards and safe systems of work.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a safety-critical environment.

Desirable

  • Experience of high-voltage electrical systems and substations.

  • Experience within rail, transport, utilities, energy, manufacturing, defence, data centres or other critical infrastructure sectors.

  • Experience managing contractors and technical projects.

  • Knowledge of STATCOM, SVC or power quality systems.

  • Knowledge of reliability-centred, predictive or condition-based maintenance techniques.

  • French language skills would be advantageous but are not essential.
