Job Description:

What’s the role?

The Power Originator (Italy) will support origination activities for the Italian market as part of the Shell Energy Europe & Africa (SE-EA) Power Business Development (BD) team. Power is a growth area for Shell and Business Development & Origination will continue to be at the forefront of value delivery. In this role you’ll be expected to support on the following SE-EA product initiatives:

  • PPA offtakes or hedging products from renewable energy sources
  • Corporate PPAs for the Italian market based on portfolio of renewable supply
  • Flow transactions with utilities, traders and other wholesalers including structured products and options
  • Work closely with Shell’s Renewable Energy Solutions division on potential investment opportunities by providing input and support into revenue structuring
  • Work with the team to develop new CVPs and product offerings based on changing market conditions and developing regulations
  • Act as expert and focal point for Italian market for the Power BD team

What we need from you

We are looking for someone who has experience in power origination with a track record of closing transactions in the Italian market.

The potential candidate is expected to have a solid network of counterparties in the renewable generation and flow deal product space and have deep understanding of market drivers to be able to differentiate Shell’s value proposition. Significant experience in the Italian power market is required, including:

  • Experience in origination of OTC power trading products in Italy, including structuring and product design of such opportunities
  • Experience in renewable PPA origination or asset development
  • Proven track record of a generating sustainable P&L
  • Commercial acumen including solid negotiating skills, with demonstrated ability to identify and close opportunities
  • Deep understanding of market fundamentals and pricing levers to be able to differentiate Shell’s value proposition
  • Good understanding of risk identification and management (i.e., the end-to-end process from origination to trading around the positions)
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills and proven ability to collaborate across teams
  • Solid understanding of regulatory landscape and ability to relate this to impacts for Shell and its clients
  • Able to perform a number of tasks under severe time pressure, in challenging and stressful environments
  • Good attention to detail and ability to work to short time frames
  • A self-starter in general
