Greenvolt Power Spain is seeking for a Power Markets Manager. This position is ideal for candidates passionate about the energy sector and data-driven decision-making, with a focus on understanding and influencing power market dynamics.
The candidate will monitor and evaluate power market trends, develop models to forecast prices and demand, and provide actionable insights that inform energy management strategies and risk management. This role requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis, and a solid understanding of energy markets, particularly in the renewable energy or power sectors
Key accountabilities
Market Analysis:
• Conduct detailed analyses of electricity market trends, regulatory changes, and policy impacts to identify potential opportunities and risks in power markets.
• Track and report on supply and demand dynamics, power prices, generation capacity, and grid constraints to inform forecasts and strategic planning.
• Support internal teams with market intel on specific markets and technologies.
Forecasting and Modeling:
• Develop, refine, and maintain quantitative models for short-term and long-term power price forecasting and demand predictions.
• Analyze data from multiple sources (e.g., weather forecasts, historical market data, and production reports) to improve accuracy in power and energy price forecasts.
Data Management and Reporting:
• Manage large datasets, including real-time data, to support analysis and reporting.
• Manage the relationship with Energy Experts Consultants to get a deep understanding of the market dynamics.
• Generate regular and ad-hoc reports for internal teams and stakeholders, summarizing market trends, performance metrics, and forecast updates.
Risk and Strategy Support:
• Provide analysis to support hedging strategies, risk assessment, and trading decisions.
• Work with trading teams to assess price volatility, potential trading positions, and impacts of regulatory changes on market dynamics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
- +5 years of experience in power markets, energy trading, consultancy in energy, or a related analytical role.
- Experience with energy market data, power trading, or renewables is a plus.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and strong skills in Excel.
- Familiarity with power market platforms, such as Eikon, ICE, or Bloomberg, is an advantage.
- Experience in machine learning or quantitative modeling is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex data insights clearly.
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
