Job Purpose:
At H3X, we are building the most advanced electric motors in the world for sustainable aviation, marine, industrial, and defense applications. At 12 kW/kg continuous, the HPDM family of integrated motor drives is a step change in electric propulsion technology and removes one of the main barriers blocking widespread proliferation of electric and hybrid aircraft. Our motors range in size from 30 kW to 30 MW and are 3X lighter than competitors’ systems.
As a Power Electronics Intern at H3X Technologies, you will contribute to the design, testing, and validation of breakthrough power electronic systems for next-generation electric propulsion. You will work alongside experienced engineers, gaining hands-on experience with high-voltage systems and the manufacturing processes that take ideas from concept to production. We are open to hiring interns in 3 month, 6 month, or longer internships, in different time periods based on availability.
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, simulation, and testing of power electronic hardware

  • Support the development and validation of PCB assemblies and wire harnesses, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams to implement new processes

  • Conduct simulations and performance analyses using industry-standard tools (MATLAB, LTspice, Simulink) to validate system performance and identify optimization opportunities

  • Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis for hardware issues, assisting in implementing corrective actions and documenting outcomes

  • Assist with test setup, measurement, and evaluation of prototypes and production units, including high-voltage system operation under lab safety guidelines

  • Contribute to technical documentation, including test reports and manufacturing instructions for PCB and wire harness assemblies

  • Stay updated on latest trends and advancements in power electronics

Required Qualifications

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field

  • Strong electronics fundamentals and project-based electronics experiences

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Organized with attention to detail

  • Experience or interest in high-voltage systems, power electronics, electric motors

  • Curious and motivated by first principles

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or experience in power electronics principles—including converter topologies, semiconductor devices, etc.

  • Familiarity with PCB design tools (Altium preferred)

  • Experience in simulation tools such as MATLAB, LTspice, Simulink, or similar

  • Hands-on experience with circuit prototyping and troubleshooting; comfort with lab instruments and small hand tools

  • Experience with scripting and/or software development (Python, C, etc.)

Benefits & Compensation

  • $23.00 - $37.00 / hr based on school level & experience

  • Relocation stipend

Be Relentless
At the core of our organization are principles that guide every action and decision we make. These values define our story, our problem-solving approach, and are the foundation for how we operate as a company.

Gain insight through humility
Approach every challenge with a learner’s mindset. Be open to feedback, listen to others, and deepen your understanding through self-awareness. Put your ego aside and always seek truth in discussion with others. This is particularly crucial for effective leadership.

Distill & Simplify
Eliminate unjustified complexity and simplify wherever possible, whether in requirements, design, or execution. This applies to communication and decision-making as well. Use first principles thinking and distill each facet of a problem to its essence. Less is more.

Find your flow
Engage fully and work with intention, finding the rhythm and deep focus that leads to doing your best work. Discover your Ikigai - where your strengths, passions, and purpose drive both personal fulfillment and team success. When you're "in the zone", that is when the magic happens.

SEND (Solve, Evolve, Nail It, Deliver)
Devise the best solution with the information at hand, test it, learn from it, iterate quickly, and then nail it. Don't expect it to work perfectly the first time, but you should never encounter the same issue twice. Laser-focus on solving customer problems and deliver solutions that provide real value for them.
