Position: Power BI Developer / Data Visualization SME – DAX | Custom Visuals About the Role:As a Power BI Developer and Data Visualization SME at Navaide, you will transform raw data into impactful dashboards and visual stories that drive decision-making across federal and defense programs. Your expertise in DAX, Power BI custom visuals, and row-level security (RLS) will enable you to build highly performant, secure, and insightful analytics solutions aligned with mission objectives.
How you will Make an Impact:
You’ll work closely with business users, data engineers, and analysts to deliver visualizations that empower operational leaders, improve transparency, and support analytics modernization across secure environments.
Relevant Skills and Experience:- 4+ years of experience developing with Power BI, including data modeling, measures, and report development
- Deep understanding of DAX for calculations, KPIs, and optimized performance
- Proficiency in creating and integrating custom visuals and themes
- Experience implementing row-level security (RLS) and managing permissions for secure deployments
- Strong data storytelling and UI/UX design skills for building intuitive dashboards
- Experience sourcing data from SQL, Azure Synapse, Dataverse, and APIs
- Familiarity with Power BI governance, workspace design, and deployment pipelines
- Ability to collaborate with both business and technical stakeholders
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and develop advanced Power BI reports and dashboards with strong visual and analytical impact
- Write efficient and scalable DAX queries for calculated columns, measures, and KPIs
- Implement RLS to enforce access control and data governance standards
- Customize visuals and apply branding, themes, and bookmarks for enhanced user experiences
- Collaborate with data engineers and data stewards to ensure high-quality data sources
- Maintain documentation, user training materials, and performance tuning strategies
- Support deployment processes, version control, and workspace management within a CoE framework
Security Clearance:
Must be eligible to receive a DoD security clearance
Travel:
Occasional travel may be required (<25%)
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Design, or a related field. Relevant certifications or equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
