The Role
A Powder Coater prepares surfaces, applies dry powder coating using spray guns, cures parts in an oven, and ensures a durable, quality finish, following strict safety protocols, cleaning equipment, and maintaining records, often working with conveyors and various metals in manufacturing settings. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation: Cleaning, sanding, masking, and treating metal surfaces for proper adhesion.
  • Coating Application: Selecting colors, loading powder, and spraying evenly with spray guns (manual or automatic).
  • Curing: Moving parts into and out of high temperature curing ovens.
  • Quality Control: Inspecting finished products for defects, coverage, and adherence to standards, troubleshooting issues.
  • Equipment & Area Maintenance: Cleaning spray guns, booths, and maintaining a safe, organized workspace.
  • Documentation: Keeping records of coated parts, colors, and processes.
  • Safety: Adhering to all safety procedures, wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and proper disposal of materials. 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Attention to detail and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
  • Understanding materials, processes, and basic equipment maintenance.
  • Physical strength to move parts and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, sometimes hot environment.
