Job Description

Motorola Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Database Developer to join our growing engineering team. You will play a critical role in maintaining and optimizing our core PostgreSQL database infrastructure, ensuring high availability, performance, and data integrity. This is a hands-on role requiring a deep understanding of PostgreSQL and best practices for database development.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views within our PostgreSQL database

• Write high-quality, efficient, and well-documented SQL code

• Design and implement database schemas that meet the needs of our applications.

• Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues

• Collaborate with other engineers to design and implement database solutions

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of our database infrastructure and processes

• Monitor database health, performance, and security

• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards

Basic Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as a Database Developer, with a strong focus on PostgreSQL

• Proven experience developing and maintaining stored procedures, functions, triggers, and views in PostgreSQL

• Excellent SQL skills, including experience with performance tuning and optimization

• Solid understanding of database design principles, including normalization and indexing

• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice to Have:

• Experience with database administration tasks, including backups, recovery, and user management

• Experience with monitoring and alerting tools

• Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for PostgreSQL)

• Experience with other relational databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle).
