Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine (JJIM), a Johnson & Johnson company, is recruiting for a Postdoctoral Researcher to be located at our office in either New Brunswick, NJ; Raritan, NJ; Titusville, NJ, or Spring House, PA. Remote work options within the US may be considered on a case-by-case basis and if approved by the Company.

This is an exceptional opportunity to apply Radiology AI/ML to oncology research, with the potential to significantly influence the development of novel cancer therapies. The successful candidate will work closely with interdisciplinary teams at Interventional Oncology within JJIM to design, develop, and validate models leveraging unique real-world imaging datasets with comprehensive clinical data enriched with expert annotations.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of Radiology AI/ML development with clinically meaningful applications such as disease characterization and outcome prediction. Preferred experience includes applying Radiology AI/ML in clinical settings and exposure to oncology, particularly solid tumors such as lung cancer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceive, develop, and implement analytics and AI/Machine learning radiology solutions to high-priority scientific problems
  • Participate in cross-functional collaborations with external companies and internal scientific, clinical, and data science teams
  • Shape internal/external collaborations and define the scope of research questions
  • Extract insight from complex, unstructured radiology image or other imaging modalities data to enhance decision making in clinical development of cancer therapy (e.g., tumor characterization, outcome prediction, etc.)
  • Clearly articulate highly technical methods and results to diverse audiences and partners to drive decision-making

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., artificial intelligence, computer science, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, or similar), or closely related field, completed within the past 3 years, or to be completed within the next 6 months.
  • Proficiency in radiology imaging modalities such as CT, PET, MRI, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience driving research in and applying Computer Vision techniques, such as Foundation models, Transformers, CNNs, Diffusion models, RNNs, GANs, and radiomics.
  • Extensive experience with traditional Computer Vision applications, such as OpenCV, object detection, edge detection, image segmentation
  • Extensive hands-on experience with medical imaging modalities and formats (e.g., DICOM, nrrd, nifti) and collaborating with subject matter experts.
  • Proficiency with one or more programming languages such as Python or C++
  • Strong publication record and ability to effectively communicate technical work to a wide audience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience applying Radiology AI/ML in clinical settings. 
  • Exposure to oncology, preferably solid tumors such as lung cancer. 
  • Hands-on technical data analysis, cloud computing (AWS, Azure), dockerization.
  • Familiarity with and exposure to drug discovery and clinical development processes
  • Experience working closely with healthcare professionals

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $77,000 to $108,000. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis. Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance. Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
