About the Role:Postdoctoral Scientist with a strong background in cellular and molecular pathobiology and toxicology. The successful candidate will investigate fundamental mechanisms of Neurotoxicity and implement innovative techniques to complement our early drug discovery toxicology efforts. Our collaborative research environment will further allow the postdoc to gain insight into ongoing efforts to implement fit-for-purpose new approach methodologies (NAMs) to enable prioritization of drug candidates for advancement into first-in-human-enabling toxicology studies as well potentially impact the drug development process in general.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Independently hypothesize, design and execute research projects

  • Learn and implement new techniques to enable these projects

  • Perform data analysis, documentation and reporting

  • Draft and execute peer reviewed manuscripts and technical reports

  • Collaborate across research groups to share results

  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • PhD in toxicology, molecular & cellular biology, biochemistry, molecular neuroscience, or closely related discipline and with a track record of scientific publications

  • Strong prior experience in exploring molecular pathways (including ion channel pharmacology) and their impact on human disease

  • Broad experience in cellular, molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (e.g., Cytotoxicity assays, LC-MS/MS-based Proteomics, Next-generation Sequencing) is preferred

  • Experience with immunohistochemistry and/or in situ hybridization is preferred

  • Experience with cell culture and cell-based in vitro assays is preferred

  • Experience with primary cell culture (e.g., primary neurons and iPSC-derived neurons, astrocytes, and/or microglia) is beneficial

  • Experience with microelectrode array (MEA) and/or a Fluorescence Imaging Plate Reader (FLIPR) platforms is beneficial

  • Experience with Pathway Analysis software is beneficial

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Graph Pad Prism software is required

  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and organizational skills

  • Must be able to work independently as well as with interdisciplinary teams

  • Strong written, presentation, and verbal communication skills

  • Understands Neurocrine's business objectives and developing understanding of Neurocrine's services and customers

  • Has experience in specific functional discipline while working to acquire higher-level knowledge and skills

  • Comfortable with tools and processes that support work conducted by functional area

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • Strong computer skills

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $89,800.00-$123,000.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
