Position Summary:

We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral researcher to spearhead a research project focused on pediatric-type brain cancers. The project has a heavy computational biology component. Therefore, bioinformatics skills and expertise are necessary. In addition, depending on interest and experience, the postdoctoral researcher will also have to opportunity to conduct studies in cell and animal models.

Working in a multi-disciplinary team of wet-lab and dry-lab scientists, the researcher will investigate the mechanisms of pediatric diffuse glioma initiation and progression, and aim to identify therapeutic targets. To do so, the researcher will notably analyze bulk and single-cell multi-omics datasets (gene expression, DNA methylation, chromatin accessibility, transcription factor binding, and others) from mouse and human brain tumor samples at different stages of progression and after exposure to therapies.

The postdoctoral researcher will have opportunities to lead projects, devise data analysis strategies, and develop or implement new computational analysis pipelines. The researcher will be expected to work closely with wet-lab scientists to integrate the analysis of omics data and wet-lab experimental results.

The researcher will have opportunities to present their work at lab meetings, local and international conferences, and will be expected to contribute to writing manuscripts describing their results. The researcher will also be expected to apply for fellowships for which they are eligible.

Other Qualifying Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity and experience with R and Python programming is essential.
  • Experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data is essential (for example: RNA-sequencing, ChIP-sequencing, CUT&RUN, ATAC-sequencing, etc.). Expertise should be demonstrated through publications.
  • Experience with single-cell bioinformatics analysis pipelines is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge and training experience in cancer biology and/or epigenetics is a strong asset.
  • Good capabilities to work independently and to lead a project.
